(UST'). All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Mr. Anderson of the Northern Indiana Transit Company submitted to the Board a new list of bus and time sched- ules. Accepted and taken under advisement. Schedules to become effective, June 1, 1957. The Civil Air Patrol requests permission to conduct a tag day on June 1st, 1957 on the downtown.:streets. Permission granted. A petition .was received from tvir. and Mrs. P. Budny and several others requesting the improvement of Dundee Street from Western Avenue to Jefferson Street by the construction of a trunkline sewer according to law. Petition hereby referred to the City Engineering Department for investigation and recommendation. The following traffic signs were installed: Stop sign on LaSalle Street, northwest corner, at LaPorte Avenue Stop sign on Carroll Street, both sides, at Victoria Street Yield Right of Way Signs installed on Rexford Street, both sides at (Manchester Drive. Contractor's bonds weFe approved for Keith K. Carbiener. Supplemental Agreement #3 of Jefferson Boulevard pavement improvement, South Bend, Indiana is hereby approved by the Board this 20th day of May, 1957. Callix E. Miller submitted to the Board Change Order H.V. TC. & P.1, for Fire Station No. 14, dated May 18, 1957 for additional plumbing works. Accepted and approved this 20th day of May, 1957. Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioner, requests permission to attend Indiana Inspector's Committee Conven- tions meeting to be held in Indianpolis on May 24, 1957. Permission granted. 3 i� 588 r C. E. Case, Contractor, is hereby given permission to erect a new canopy on Lawson's jewelry Store upon recommendation of the Building Commissioner. The Pioneer's Women's organization appeared before the Board requesting permission to conduct a tag day on the 3rd day of June, 1957. Permission granted. Mrs. Ellen B. Rosansky, 1630 Churchill Drive representing the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Jewish "War Veterans j requests permission to conduct a tag day on June 17, 1957. Permission granted. Mr. R. Dolan appeared before the Board regarding communications with reference to free transportation for • senior citizens 65 yrs. old or over. Matter taken under advisement. The contracts for Street improvement on Eddy Street from South Bend Avenue to Angela Blvd under Contract No. 4, 1957 for the City of South Bend, Indiana are hereby approved by the Board this 20th day of May, 1957. The Assessment Roll for Local Sewer on Pershing Street from 149 feet west of Johnson Street to Elmer Stre under Improvement Resolution No. 2851, 1957 is approved. Rev. Hendricks appeared before the Board representing the All Saints Evangelical Church requesting per- mission to close High Street between Ewing Avenue and Altgeld for a youth ear wash on Saturday, 11iay 25, 1957. Permission granted. Also, Rev. Wilson Parks, 312 E. Broadway of the Board E. U. B. church appeared before the Board requesting;; permission to close Carroll Street from alley to Boardway for youth car wash, on Saturday, May 25, 1957. j Permission granted. The Board now awards the Bids for the Street and Sewer Departments .which were opened at last week's meeting;: STREET DEPARTMENT Elgin Sweeper Company A non -collusion affidavit and a bidder's Elgin, Illinois bond in the amount of $1400.00 accompanied. the bid. Lafayette St. South Bend, Indiana A non -collusion affidavit and a certified check in the amount of $225.00 accompanied the bid. One (1) 1957 International truck, 2-ton cab & chassis Total bid price ------------------------------------ $2235.02 The time now being after 10:00 A.M. (DST) it was so announced and the bids for the Council Room P.A. Systems were opened. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood ' and in the Record with an affidavit signed by Ruby McManon were submitted to the Board and found sufficient'i. (DST) on the 3rd day of June, 1957 at the office of the Board for the construct; Lon of a hot plant -mix asphaltic concrete pavement on Logan Street from RicKinlyy Highway south to Jefferson 3oulevard and only the west twelve (12) feet of such pavement. 50 VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2853, 1957 This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award of damages and the asse ment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of LOCKE STREET FROtMI THE WEST LINE OF IOWA STREET WEST 120 ALSO, FROM THE EAST LINE OF A 19 FOOT PUBLIC ALLEY( OR RIGHT OF WAY) EAST 120 FEET, under Resolution No. 2 1957. In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed. Th Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, and the Boar therefore finds that the several lots have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The Board, therefore decides to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modifiation and the proceedings closed, and the alley vacated up- on receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all pro- ceedings had with reference to said vacation are hereby sustained. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 A.V. (DST).
