A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, April 8, 1957 at 10:00 A.M. (CST). All
members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Claims of the total
amount of $67,964.57 were approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers:

On the request of the Board of Public Works & Safety, the Northern Indiana Bus Company submitted their schd-
ule of bus routes and also a time schedule. The Bus Company will hereafter submit any changes of routes
or time schedules.

The monthly report for March, 1957 of the Building Department is hereby accepted and placed on file.
The plans for the Belleville Center Shopping Center sanitary and storm sewer for the Colpaert Realty Corp-
oration is hereby approved by the Board.
Contractor's bonds were approved for Stanley J. Wachowiak and Thomas W. Wheeler.
Excavation bonds were approved for Charles F. Stickler and 0. J. Shoemaker, Inc.
Stop signs were installed at the following locations:
Kessler Street, northeast corner at Portage Avenue
Keller Street, southwest corner, at Portage Avenue
Mr. Ward Anderson, of the DAV, hereby requests permission to change the date of their annual flower sale
from May 24, and 25 to June 7, and 8, 1957. Permission granted.
Chas. W. Cole & Son submitted to the Board Partial Payment Estimate No. 1 covering work completed by the
Rieth Riley Construction Company from March 12 to March 31, 1957 on the 1956 General Street Improvement,
Program, Sample Street Contract No. 3.

The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to advertise for under -body grader blades for the Street De-
partment. 1

The Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company requests permission to barricade part of the sidewalk on Calfax Avenue
in front nf_ the Men's Corner building starting on April 9, 1957 for a period of two or three weeks. Per-
mission.granted.
. 11Mr. Fred Smith representing the St. Pius Catholic Church requests permission to park a car (for raffle pur-
1,poses) sometime in the month of May on the downtown streets. Permission granted subject to the car being
1park6d on private property such as the downtown parking lots.

• lThe time now being after 10:00 A.M. (CST) it was so announced and the bids for the Traffic Engineering De-
ipartment were opened. Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G.
Livengood and in the Record with an -affidavit signed by W. DeCanio were submitted to the Board for examina-

the following:
LOCKE STREET FROM THE WEST LINE OF IOWA STREET WEST
120 FEET ALSO FROM THE EAST LINE OF A 19 FOOT PUBLIC
ALLEY (OR RIGHT OF WAY) EAST 120 FEET
The following property may be injuriously or beneficially effected by such vacation:
LOTS NUMBERED 13, 37, 12, and 36 - ALWARD'S ADDITION
Notice of this Resolution shall be published on the 12th day of April and on the 19th day of April, 1957
in the South Bend Daily Tribune and The Record.
This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 22nd day of April, 1957 at 10:00 A.M. (CST) will hear and:
receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these proceedings.
