Home My WebLink About04/01/57 Board of Public Works Minutes (2)572 March 25, 1957 A special meeting of the Board of Public Works & Safety was held on Monday, March 25, 1957 at 2:00 P..M.(CST). All members were present. The purpose of this meeting was in regards to the Logan Street improvement. Also present at this meeting was the Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of Mishawaka, Indiana. It was agreed that inasmuch as Logan Street, one-half (1 of said street being within the confines of the 'City of South Bend and one-half (2) of said street being within the confines of the City of Mishawaka and 1further said street being the section line road and also an arterial road, that each City assume one-half(L l'the responsibility for the improvement of said street. is i.The City Engineer of the City of South Bend is directed to coordinate with the Engineering Department of the City of Mishawaka for the purpose of making specifications for said improvement. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at :'-2:35 P.M. Reinke & Son for permit to occupy 8 feet of Michigan Street along the front of 122 South Michigan Street from date to July 31, 1957 during the construction of building for Newman's is hereby approved by the Board.' � The plans and specifications for the 1957 Olive Street improvement program Section "C" Curb -walk paving 11plan from Washington to Linden Avenue are hereby approved and signed by the Board this 1st day of April, 1 ?The Traffic Engineer recommends that the first two (2) meters north of alley between Western and Monroe St is!!on the west side of Michigan Street will be changed from 36 minute to 12 minute meters. Board now approve Ithe recommendation of the Traffic Engineer. Due to present vehicular and pedestrian traffic volumes and past accident experience at the intersection o Colfax Avenue (US 20 and State Route 23) and Niles Avenue, the Board of Public Works and Safety hereby re- quests the State Highway Department of Indiana, LaPorte District, LaPorte, Indiana that traffic signals be ,,installed at this location. Bruggner ENGINEER'S REPORT 3/25/57 In the matter of the Bids for the improvement of Campeau Street from 185 feet west of Jacob Street to Jacob Street by constructing a local sewer in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2850, 1957 passed by th Board of Public Works & Safety on February 18, 1957 and confirmed by said Board on March 4, 1957, we here- by submit that we have tabulated and examined the several Bids submitted to the Board on March 18, 1957 an find that the Cecil Dale d/b/a Osceola Crane Service has the lowest and best bid. Bruggner 3/25/57 ENGINEER'S REPORT In the matter of the bids for the improvement of Pershing Street from 149 feet west of Johnson Street to Elmer Street by constructing a local sewer in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2851, 1957 passed by the Board of Public Works and Safety on February 18, 1957 and confirmed by said Board on March 4, 1957 we hereby submit that we have tabulated and examined the several bids submitted to the Board on March 18, 1957 and find that the Osceola Crane Service has the lowest and best bid.
