A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, February 11, 1957 at 10:00 A.M. (CST).
All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Claims in the
total amount of $17159.15 were approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers:

Excavation bonds were approved for Walter Radlauer, Joseph M. Hiznay, Hamilton Plumbing & Heating, Norman'
W. Collmer, Ed L. Zimmerman, and 0. J. Shoemaker.
Contractor's bonds were approved for Asher Construction Company and Raymond Asher.
A letter was received and placed on file from Dr. Carter with reference to promoting the construction of
sanitary sewers in the rapid development of the area in the northwest part of the City. Taken under
consideration by the Board.
A letter was received from the Polish Women's Democratic Club by Clementine Cegielski with reference to
a remonstance signed by forty-three (43) property owners who are protesting the operation of a jund yard
in the 2200 block of Dunham. Board will take it under advisement and make an investigation.
The Daughters of Union Veterans requested permission to conduct their annual forget-me-not sale on the
17th and 18th days of May, 1957. Permission granted.
Mr. J. W. Jones of the Seven Adventist Church appeared before the Board with reference to requesting per-J
mission to conduct door-to-door solicitations of Literature Evangelist Credentials. Said individual grant d
permission to solicit subject to registering with the Better Business Bureau and also the Council of Churdtes.
The Clerk of the Board is hereby authorized to advertise for a 2 ton pick-up truck complete with 3-Way
radio and custom body for the Street Department.
Attorney, Joseph A. Roper, appeared before the Board with reference to a proposed plan in connection with
the sewers in the City of South Bend. Matter continued until a later date.
Termination of employment with the City of South Bend Dog Pound to become effective as of February 15, 19*
for Charles Howell.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:35 A.M. (CST).
