our team considers every aspect of the design as it relates to visitor experience, feasibility,
operations, maintainability and long term success.
Should we be awarded this project, we will provide straightforward communication, a single point of
contact and a consistent, skilled, cross -functioning team experienced in creating outstanding
designs. We have the experience to develop creative, durable solutions that will withstand daily use
for years to come.
Lastly, we are very excited about this initiative because we understand that mobile and travelling
experiences have the advantage of reaching areas and neighborhoods that traditional built
environments cannot. We learned this working on BioBus and the Children's Food Lab -truck, two,
experiential vehicle projects we designed. Very different from a museum or -traditional venue, vehicles
can provide services and hands-on, in -person experiences for those who would most benefit.
Experiential vehicles have the potential to bridge cultural and educational barriers, and we would be
-thrilled to be part of this initiative.
We are very passionate about the goals of this project, and look forward to partnering with the VPA
to bring this experience to life!

Experiential Approach
The Tessellate/ Xibitz team has a collaborative process for designingi and implementing innovative,
experiential design solutions. We begin our process by meeting with your team, stakeholders, external
partners and any key participants involved in the project to refine the goals and target audience.
Through thoughtful observation, research:, analysis and collaboration, our team will then develop
creative experiences, enticing visitors to interact with your exhibits and with each other.
Our approach to design is to create experiences that have exceptional functionality and that are
engaging, educational and informative. Every part of the design - both physical and digital - should
evoke simplicity and ease of use. The design will be durable, easy to maintain and to update. The
Technical Approach
our approach to technology is based on years of experience working with museums, institutes and
corporations of all sizes. We develop technology infrastructure, and software platforms that applications
can be built upon and accessed within and outside of the physical location. Our approach to the design
will be to develop modular, flexible interfaces that are intuitive, easy to use, and can accommodate new
assets over time. We recommend technology that achieves the following goals:
- offer a great and informative in person experience. Whether through an interactive photo booth to
capture the experience, a touch screen map that highlights local attractions, or a large-scale dynamic
media environment, the experience will need to engage, inform and move people.
- Toolsto take away. This entails a deeper dive into information for visitors and allows ways to save,
share, and send details of the experience and even,
- Leverage existing channels, such as social media. We will work with you to discover additional
channels and technology platforms to leverage.
PhvslcaI Design S 3D Modeling Process
For Physical Design, Tessellate has established a unique approach of creating a working 3D model of
the overall environment and vehicle design. This iterative approach allows us to design in real-time with
our clients, ensuring a successful process that saves both -time and money by creating efficiency in the
design process. Most importantly, this process ensures collective ownership of the vision and will result
in an amazing experience for the visitors.

User Testing
We have developed a Test, Learn, Iterate (TLI) process which will enable our collaborative team to
iteratively craft and refine the design. As part of our process, we, will conduct user testing prior to
production of any final software or media. This includes creating prototypes and mock-ups that allow
us to determine the optimal final design,
Universal Design and ADA Compliance
The 3D modelling process allows us to design a space from the perspective of a handicapped
individual, a child, a family, or a crowd. This helps us better design a comparable experience for users
with physical disabilities. Working in this format also allows us the ability to ensure that all content is
accessible to the hearing and visually impaired visitors.
Project Management Approach
As the overall Project Manager, Tessellate understands that it is essential for us to have an ongoing
presence in South Bend. We strongly desire to produce a vehicle that will exceed all of your
expectations, and we will meet in South Bend (from nearby Dayton) whenever either party sees this
presence as beneficial. In order to ensure that the overall project will meet the firneframe, Tessellate
will adhere to the following approach.
Tessellate, will plan weekly coordination calls grouped around milestones, schedule weekly
progress reviews to ensure that milestones are met and to provide updates at the end of each
phase.
Tessellate's approach is to connect every week on project progress. Interactive media tools
such as Go -To -Meeting, Google Docs and Basecamp will be effectively utilized.
Tessellate will proactively establish a communication plan that includes all key participants on
the project team and connects progress check -ins on a weekly basis. Senior Tesseilate
personnel, will always be accessible.

Xibitz will react to the story design impact but also continual cost control. The development of the
story both from a build design perspective but also from a flow and media perspective will pass
through multiple costing checkpoints to ensure "live" budget compliance.
Efficiency is built by working in conjunction. Care and coordination must be taken to allow the designs
to live in the space with all media power and data requirements met. The investment in the design will
be carried through into the build of the components. There will be multiple check points along the
development time line which ensure the final shop drawings of the concepts match the design intent
and function for each piece.
Components which have a direct impact for understanding the story will be mocked up for client
review. Only after the review will these components be solidified in the shop drawing and build
process.

experiential environment to elevate art, performance, cultural, and commercial programming that
provides educational and enrichment programs. The concept is meant to be inviting and
inclusionary, empowering individuals to celebrate their inner power and embrace their community.
Additionally, we began to consider some conceptual goals that set this experience apart.
Conceptual goals:
0 Move and connect people through new types of experiences
0 Narratives that talk..WITH locals, not AT them,, achieved by creating authentic experiences
that not only tefistories, but also allows visitors to experience and participate in those
stories.
• Offer opportunities for participants to make change and impact that benefit the community
® Create a platform for local organizations to engage with and grow their local community

01 Discovery& Concept
The goal of Discovery 8 Concept is to understand the project in depth and to establish a shared vision
for the anew experiential vehicle. To achieve this, the design team will facilitate a series of on -site
meetings with key stakeholders and develop a Master Plan and Conceptual Design.
02 Design Development
The Design Development phase collaboratively explores design directions, determining the best visitor
experience that supports the vision of the VPA. This is an iterative phase that implements a side -by -side
design method to ensure a collective, shared creative vision while keeping the project moving forward
at a quick and consistent pace. Our approach centers around a working 3D model that represents
decisions made in each design discipline and allows us to design in real-time with our clients and
partners,
03 Final Design,
In this phase, the concept evolves into a finalized, detailed design. At the conclusion of Final Design, we
will have a comprehensive set of design documentation. This documentation will be the roadmap for
production and will guide producers in fabricating and producing the vehicle as originally envisioned.
04 Production
The production phase is when the design comes to life. During this phase the physical components are
engineered, fabricated and pre -assembled in the shop, all media assets are produced to the level of
final cut, AV systems are set up offsite for testing and all interactive software is developed. All work is
reviewed during regular shop visits and approved by the client and design teams prior to production of
final assets.
05 Installation &Tasting
During the Installation and Testing phase, all prefabricated elements and casework are assembled on
site, software is debugged and tested on site, media is tested and color calibrated for output and all
front end and back end AV systems are assembled and installed on, site, tested and burned in. Regular
site reviews ensure QA throughout this phase of work. The components will be documented and turned
into a user manual for reference. When all components are installed, the -truck will go through a final
round of rigorous testing prior to hand-off to VIDA.

The National Museum of Mathematics desired a way for children and adults to learn complex mathematical
principles, while telling the institution's story that math can be fun with great relevance to our everyday life. We
designed the interface and interactives for six of the museum's exhibits. This included games for an interactive
floor display which encouraged collaborative play and learning through mulfiplayer games, The exhibits engaged
the visitors with games such as Sokoban, a Japanese "warehouse" game and concepts like Voronoi and the
Traveling Salesman algorithm, Harmony of Spheres, a hands-on interactive sculpture employed sensors, light and
sound to express musical algorithms. The exhibit incorporated our research with a composer to teach chord
structure, offering a multisensory approach to learning the relationship between mathematics and music.
