Dale d/b/a Osceola Crane Service. is A petition was received asking for the improvement of Campeau Street from the center of Jacobs Street to a point 185 feet west of the center of Jacobs Street by the construction of Sanitary and Storm sewer !according to Barrett Law Plan. Petition hereby referred to the City Engineering Department for investigati( .and report. The Board hereby approves and signs the contract for Engineering Services between the CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA and CONSOER TOWNSEND AND ASSOCIATES, Consulting Engineers, 360 East Grand Avenue, Chigago 11, Illinois this 29th day of October, 1956. Mr. L. L. Doolittle appeared before the Board with reference to request permission to conduct a parade ,for the children in Southmoor Heights Addition on Wednesday, October 31, 1956 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. !'Permission granted subject to working out a proposed route with the Police Department. Permission is hereby granted to the Bob's Nash Motor Sales on Lafayette Street for the use of a large 'search light in frontof their building on said street on October 30 and 319 1956. Contract No. 3, Sample Street, and Contracts No. 1, lA, 2, and 2A9 Indiana Avenue, are hereby signed and approved by the Board this 29th day of October, 1956. Permission is hereby granted to the Craven's Hardware for the construction of a canopy on their build- ing subject to the requirements as set out in the Building Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Mrs. Wendell Lukacs appeared before the Board on behalf of the Hungarian Veteran's Organization and also a part of the Polish American Central Civic Committee with reference to request permission to have a parade which would begin at the Laurel Club, 1120 West Thomas Street. Permission granted subject to submission to the Board a parade route worked out with the Police, Traffic, Street, and Fire Departments. Request is hereby made by the Salvation Army for permission to place two (2) booths on the sidewalk o , and'Kresge-'s.. These booths, equipped with a P.A. device, are t Michigan Streetnamely infront of Wyman's be set up for the period of the Ckrr-istmas trade activity. `Permission was granted. 538 After due investigation of all bids and being dully advised on the premises, the Board of Public Wor and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, decides that the bid -"of the Reed Construction Company, Inc. 2022 North Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana for the construction of the improvement known as the South Lake Street Pavement Improvement according to Improvement Resolution no. 28461, 1956, is the lowest and best bid and that the contract to do said work be awarded to the Reed Construction Company, Inc. 2021 North Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 28469 1956 FINAL ORDER WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works, did on the 16th day of October, 1956, adopt a Prelinimary Order designating a Class "C" Type 3 (6" Bituminous) pavement for the improvement of South Lake Street from the North line of Jefferson Blvd. to the South line of Washington Street by constructing a Class "C" pavement in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2846, 1956, passed by this Board on August 27, 1956, and co firmed by this Board on October 11 1956, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Preliminary Order is hereby, in all things modified in accordance with the petition of the majority of freeholders and said Street be paved with Class "C" Type 1 (6 " P.C. SMITH IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2838, 1956 RESOLUTION ADOPTING FINAL ASSESSMENT ROLL After hearing all persons interested who appeared and the Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana having proofs of publication of the notices to property owners and the same having been found sufficient, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana that the Prix= mary or Preliminary Assessment Roll adopted by the Board on the 15th day of October, 1956, for the improve=' of Huron Street from Arnold Street to Webster Street by constructing a local combined sewer, be and the sam� is in all things confirmed. j BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY i R.
