Johnson and Son, Charles Johnson. • A letter was received from the City Planning Commission with reference to the petition of John and Anna Polcyn and Steve and Theresa Hadarick to vacate Brookfield Street north of Indiana Avenue and the following action was taken: After due consideration it was moved, seconded, and unanimously carried j that the vacation petition be unfavorably recommended. i ------A letter was received from the City Planning commission recommending the vacation of a part of Donald' j Street from the west line of South Main Street west to alley. Petition is now referred to the City Engi- neering Department for preparation of a Vacation Resolution. A letter was received from the City Planning Commission with reference to the vacation of an alley • between Chapin Street and Prairie Avenue south of Sample Street. Letter is now referred to the City Engi neering Department for preparation of a Vacation Resolution. A report was received and placed on file from Ernest H. Miller with reference to the recommendations made at the September 24th Council Meeting from various Councilmen. Improvement Resolution No. 2844, 1956 In the matter of the Bids for the Improvement of Donald Street from Kemble Avenue to Douglas Street and Douglas Street from Donald Street to Ewing Avenue by constructing a local combined sewer in accor- dance with Improvement Resolution No. 2844, 1956, and confirmed by this Board on September 17, 1956 we hereby report that we have examined the several Bids submitted to the Board on October 11 1956 , and find that the Reed Construction Company, Inc. 2022 North Main Street, Mishawak;, Indiana has the lowest and be bid for construction of the improvement. We recommend that the Contract be awarded to the Reed Construction Company, Inc. Chas. W. Cole & Son, Inc. N IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 28449 1956 IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT After due investigation of all bids and being dully advised on the premises, the Board of Public Work .and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, decides that the bid of the Reed Construction Company, Inc. 2021 North Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana for the construction of the improvement knows as the Donald and :Douglas Streets Local Combined Sewer Improvement According to Improvement Resolution No. 2844, 1956s, is the lowest and best bid, and that the contract to do said work be awarded to the Reed Construction Company, Inc 2021 North Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 28469 1956 REFERRING BIDS TO ENGINEER The bids for the improvement of South Lake Street from the North line of Jefferson Blvd. to the Sout ;line of Washington Street by constructing a Class "C" Pavement (types 1 to 4) received on October 15, 195 in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 28469 19561, passed by this Board on August 279 1956, and con ,firmed by this Board on October 19 19569 are hereby referred to you for examination and tabulation and to !report to this Board with recommendations. Notice is hereby given that the following Improvment has been completed and the general character of the improvement, the street, alley or public place on which it has been made, and the terminal points Cher of, are as follows: Local combined sewer on Huron Street from Arnold Street to Webster Street. There is on file in the Office of the City Controller of the City of South Bend, Indiana, an assess- ment roll with the names of the owners and description of property subject to be assessed with the amount of the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the Office of said City Controller. The Board of Public Works and Safety of said City, at the Office of the Board in said City, will on the 29th day of October, 1956, at 10:00 A.M. CST receive and hear remonstrances against the amounts assess against their property respectively, on said roll and will determine the question as to whether such lots or tracts of land have been or will be benefited by said improvement to the amounts named on said roll, or is greater or less than that named on said roll or in any sum.
