Request granted. Permission is requested for the Eisenhower Band Wagon Committee to hold a parade on October 4, 1951 from 3:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. Permission granted. Messrs. Edward Dose and Lyndon Milliken appeared before the Board with reference to requesting per; .mission to place United Fund posters on the lamp posts. Permission granted. ,Mr. John Carroll appeared before the Board on behalf of Bethel College requesting permission to conduct street meetings on Monroe Street every:,Friday evening for the next nine months beginning September 28 from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Permission granted. II ii i �j • 55 Mr. Walter White, 1418 North Adams Street appeared before the Board with reference to the trash burni disturbance in his immediate residential area. The Clerk of the Board is hereby ordered to contact the Fi Department and check to see if there is a possibility of adopting an Ordinance with reference to the contr of burning trash. The proposal is then to be submitted to the Board for further investigation and report. The Board acknowledged receipt .of a post card with reference to the sidewalk on Angela Boulevard from Edward M. Pauwels, 925 Diamond Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. The Board hereby approves the plans for the installation of a canopy on the Colfax Theatre and also ;the Gold Star Bakery, Western Avenue and said plans are now referred to the Building Commissioner. Per - !mission will be granted for this installation subject to the approval of the Building Commissioner. A petition was submitted to the Board with reference to the complaint of through trucks driving on Washington Avenue West. The Clerk of the Board is directed to notify Captain Hazinski to keep watch on sa street. I A letter was submitted to the Board from Floyd R.Searer with reference to the purchasing fromthe City I all of that portion of Lot 57 in Jefferson Heights Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana which lies I!south of the south line of Colfax Avenue. This represents a strip of land 39 to 40 feet wide at the south- �east corner of Colfax Avenue and Ironwood Drive. Matter continued until November, 1956. Permission is granted to Green Arrow Parking Company to change their rate on their Parking Lot #17, located at 121 North Main Street from 25� each hour or less to 35� for the first hour and 10� for each addi tional hour. Also, their request for perission to operate a parking lot at 129 West Jefferson Street is hereby granted. Contractor's bonds were approved for Northern Indiana Public Service Company, Ignatius Golichowski, a Don M. Jaskowiak. A petition was submitted to the Board from residents in the vicinity of McKinley Avenue remonstrating against the placing of any additional "Stop Signs or traffic lights on that street. Petition referred to the Traffic Engineer for further investigation and report. Stop Signs were installed on 31st Street, both sides, at Hasting Street. The Board now proceeds with the -,opening of the Bids on Jefferson Street. Proof of publication in the South Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with an affidavit signed by W. DeCanio was submitted to the Board and found sufficient. The bids read as follows: RIETH RILEY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY P. 0. Also bids for the Oakcrest Drive - Sylvan Glen Local Sewer were opened. Proof of publication in the outh Bend Tribune with an affidavit signed by C. G. Livengood and in the Record with an affidavit signed y W. DeCanio was submitted to the Board and found sufficient. The single bid received reads as follows: REED CONSTRUCTION COMPANY A non -collusion affidavit and a certified 2022 North Main Street check in the amount of $715.00 accompanied Mishawaka, Indiana the bid. Schmidt and 7 others for the improvement of the alley betwe St. Joseph Street and Foster Street from St. Vincent Street to the lst East-West alley South of Napoleon Street by constructing a Class "C" pavement, types 1 to 4, I would recommend that the Petition be granted. Schmidt and 7 others for the improvement of the alley between St. Joseph Street and Foster Street from St. Vincent Street to the lst East-West alley South of Napoleon Street you are hereby directed to prepare Plans, Draw- ings, Profiles, General Details, Specifications, Estimates and the Preliminary Improvement Resolution for improving such part of said streets by constructing a Class "C" pavement, Types i to 4. Smith IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2843, 1956 REFERRING BIDS TO ENGINEER The bids for the improvement of Oakcrest Drive and Sylvan Glen from 35th Street and Oakcrest Driv to Sylvan Glen and McKinley Avenue by constructing a local combined sewer received on September 24, 1956, in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 28439 1956, passed by this Board on August 6, 1956, and con- firmed by this Board on September 10, 1956, are hereby referred to you for examination and tabulation and to report to this Board with recommendations.
