All members were present. Minutes of the previous regular meeting were read and approved. Miller, Traffic Engineer, to install traffic signals at the following int sections was approved by the Board. They are LaSalle and Niles Avenues, Madison and Eddy Streets, and G lawn & Jefferson Streets. Stop signs were installed at the following locations: Longley, both sides, at Olive Street, Walsh Street, both sides, at McKinley Avenue, and on the northwest corner of Greenwood at Southeast Drive. Yield Right/Way signs were installed on the southeast corner of Greenwood At Southeast Drive. Mrs. Fred Shaffer appeared before the Board with reference to request permission to close the 800 an 900 blocks of Roosevelt Street on Tuesday, July 3, 1956 for a street dance. Permission granted subject to notifying the Traffic and Police Departments. The request of Rev. C. J. Witucki, Pastor of Saint Casimir Church to have the street on which said church is located, closed during their annual parish festival at night only from July 15, 1956 to July 22, 1956 inclusive was granted by the Board. Verner L. Lane, Building Commissioned, requests that the property owners of 126 S. Kenmore St, Ar and Mathie Wells and Robert Ordway, 1530 E. Donald Street be ordered to appear at a hearing before the 1: Board of Public Works & Safety at its regular meeting on July 9, 1956. Also, Eugene L..& Zona Rysdorp, 1, 2402 West Ford Street. Request granted. u A petitition was received from the O'Brien Corporation with reference for authority to install a Railroad siding in vicinity of said corporation. Petition referred to the Traffic Engineer for further investigation and report. Cole & Son hereby reports and files the Drawings, Plans, Estimates and the Preliminary Im- provement Resolution for the improvement of Huron Street from Arnold Street to Webster Street by construct ing a local combined sewer with all appurtenances. Smith Improvement Resolution No. 2838 Notice to Property Owners Notice is hereby given by the Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, th it is deemed necessary to make the following described public improvement in the City of South Bend, India authorized by the following numbered Improvement Resolution, passed by said Board on the 2nd day of July, 1956. Improvement Resolution No. 2838, 1956, for the improvement of Huron Street from Arnold Street to Webster Street by constructing a local combined sewer. All work done in the making of said described public improvement shall be in accordance with the to ms and conditions of Improvement Resolution No. 2838, 1956, passed by the Board of Public Works and Safety on the above named day, and the Profiles, Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications and Estimated to b adopted by the Board of Public Works and Safety of said City, upon the final adoption -and confirmation of said Resolution and placed on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety of said City. 1. The Board of Public Works and Safety will meet in its office in the City Hall on the 23rd day of Jul , 1956 at the hour of 9:00 A.M. (CST) or 10:00 A.M. (DST), for the purpose of hearing and considering all rel monstrances, which may have been filed or which may be presented and will hear all persons interested or whose property is affected by said proposed improvement, and will decide whether the benefit that will acc:[,e to the property abutting and adjacent to the proposed improvement and to said City, will be equal to or ex� ceed the estimated cost of the proposed improvement as estimated by the City Civil Engineer. Cole & Son hereby reports and files the Drawings, Plans, Estimates and the Preliminary Im- provement Resolution for the improvement of Meade Street from Elwood Avenue to Bulla Street by constructin a local combined sewer. Improvement Resolution No. 2834 Board Approves Final Plans & Specifications The Profiles, Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications and Estimates for the improvement of Meade Street from Elwood Avenue to Bulla Street by constructing a local combined sewer are hereby approved R. Smith The bids for the 5 desks ype base stations for the Civil Defense Department were next reviewed and the contract is hereby awarded to Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc. U • 0 is • • • VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2835 This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of THE SOUTH 4.6' of Lot 29 - COLLEGE GROVE ADDITION AND THE NORTH 4.6' OF LOT NO. 32 , COLLEGE GROVE ADDITION. THIS ALLEY (9.2') RUNS FROM BROOKFIELD STREET WEST TO VACATED JOHNSON STREET, under Vacation Resolution No. 2835. In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed. The Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, ;and the Board, therefore finds that the several lots have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown !on said roll. The Board, therefore decides to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same !in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceedings closed, and the ;street vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so bene- fited and all proceedings had with reference to said Alley' vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all proceedings had with reference to said Alley vacation are hereby sustained. In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed. The Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore finds that the several lots have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll.
