AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR CERTAIN
DEPARTMENTAL AND CITY SERVICES OPERATIONS IN 2009 INCLUDING
$38,169 FROM WATER WORKS SINKING FUND(#62S), $86,700 FROM SEWER
INSURANCE FUND (#640), $100,000 FROM SEWAGE WORKS OPERATIONS
FUND (#641), $35,000 FROM PROJECT RELEAF FUND (#6SS), AND $269,172
FROM CENTURY CENTER FUND (#670)
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The Common Council passed the City's 2009 Budget in 2008 (Ordinance #9875-
08, passed November 10, 2008) which included expenditures for various City operations.
It is now necessary to appropriate additional funds for operational expenditures necessary
for the City to effect provision of services to its citizens which were not anticipated at the
time the City budget was adopted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
Section I. The following amounts are hereby appropriated in fiscal year 2009 and
set apart within the following designated funds for operational expenses as follows:

Sewer Insurance Fund (#640) 86,700
Sewage Works Operations (#641) 100,000
Project Releaf (#6SS) 35,000
Century Center (#670) 269,172

Section II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage by the Common Council and approval of the ayor.

Re: An Ordinance Appropriating Additional Monies within Various Enterprise Funds of the
City
Dear President Dieter:
Since the time the City's 2009 budget was passed on November 10, 2008 (Ordinance
#9874-08), additional unanticipated expenses have arisen which require the appropriation of
additional funds. The attached ordinance appropriates a total $529,041.00 from various Funds,
i.e., Water Works Sinking Fund (#625), Sewer Insurance Fund (#640), Sewage Works Operation
Fund (#641), Project Releaf Fund (#655), and Century Center (#670). I am attaching detail
information regarding the use and purpose of the additional appropriation.
This ordinance is a companion to an ordinance being filed this date which similarly
appropriates additional monies from the General Fund due to unanticipated expenses which have
arisen since the 2009 budget was approved and passed.
I will present this ordinance to the Common Council at its Committee meeting and public
hearing and will be happy to answer any questions that Council members may have.
