AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR CERTAIN
DEPARTMENTAL AND CITY SERVICES OPERATIONS IN 2009 OF $158,850
FROM GENERAL FUND (#101)
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The Common Council passed the City's 2009 Budget in 2008 (Ordinance #9874-
08, passed November 10, 2008) which included expenditures for various City operations.
It is now necessary to appropriate additional funds for operational expenditures necessary
for the Z:ity to effect provision of services to its citizens which were not anticipated at the
time the City Budget was adopted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
Section I. The following amounts are hereby appropriated in fiscal year 2009 and
set apart within the following designated funds for operational expenses as follows:

Section II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage by the Common Council and approval of the ayor.

Re: An Ordinance Appropriating Additional Monies from the General Fund (#101)
Dear President Dieter:
Since the time the City's 2009 budget was passed on November 10, 2008 (Ordinance
#9874-08), certain unanticipated expenses have arisen which require the appropriation of
additional funds. Attached is an ordinance appropriating an additional $158,850.00 from
General Fund (#101). This ordinance is a companion to a similar ordinance being filed this date
which appropriates monies from various City Enterprise Funds due to unanticipated expenses
which have occurred since the adoption of the City's 2009 budget in 2008.
I will present this ordinance to the Common Council at its Committee meeting and public
hearing and will be happy to answer any questions that Council members may have.
