A Special Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held in the office of the Board,
Tuesday, at 10:00 A. M. Mr. J. A. Bickel was absent.
The Board first examined and passed for payment the following claim:
Sollitt Construction Company ................. $38,711.39
The Board next considered the report of Chas. W. Cole & Son, consulting engineers,
in the matter of the bid opened in regular meeting of Monday, December 19, 1955, from
Niles Excavating Company for the construction of combined sanitary and storm sewer in
Beverley Place, under Improvement Resolution No. 2820, and awarded the bid to Niles
Excavating Company.
The Board then examined and accepted the recommendation of Consoer, Townsend &
Associates, consulting engineers, in the matter of Supplement to Supplement No. 11,
Contract No. 11-52-137, Sollitt Construction Cog, Inc., contractor, and affixed
their signatures in approval thereto.
Upon the recommendation of Consoer, Townsend & Associates, consulting engineers,
the Board approved Contract Supplement No. 22, for the construction of the Service
Garage Building for the Sewage Treatment Plant, under Contract No. 11-52-137,
Sollitt Construction Co., Inc., contractor.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:30 A. M.

The Board first took up the matter pertaining to partial payment of retained
percentage on Sewage Treatment Plant requested by Sollitt Construction Company in their j
letter addressed to the Board of Public Works & Safety, under date of December 16, 1955•,
Under date of December 20, 1955, a letter was received from Consoer, Townsend
and Associates, relative to the request of Sollitt Construction Companyts request for
the release of 80% of the ten percent retained amount on their contract -for the con-
struction of the Sewage Treatment Plant and recommending that all the items be checked
by the Project Attorney and his written concurrence in the legality of the Contract
Supplement should be received. Yr. Russell Kuehl has approved the release of
453,380.87, and the Indemnity Insurance Company of North American has also consented
to the release of this amount which is now being held by the City of South Bend, Indiana,;
fand the Board accordingly directed the payment of 80% of th6 retained percentage.
j' The Board also approved Contract Supplement No. 23, of Contract No. 11-52-137
Sollitt Construction Company, Contractor, for Sewage Treatment Plant, upon the recommen-�
dation of Consoer, Townsend & Associates, dated December 20, 1955. j
Supplement No. 5, Contract No. 6A, Falcon Marine Contractor, under date of
!December 21, 1955, upon the recommendation of Consoer, Townsend & Associates, consultingj!
'engineers, was also approved by the Board.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the
meeting was adjourned at 4:30 P.M.
