A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Monday, December 19, 1955,
!at 10:00 A. M. Mr. I. A. Hurwich was absent. Minutes of the previous regular meeting
land also special meeting were read and approved. Salary.claims, in the total amount of
440,553.48, were approved. Claims of the following suppliers, in the total amount of
'$145,234.87, were approved and ordered paid:

First appeared before the Board Mr. John T. Martin and Attorney Nicholas Cholis,
!!representing the Northern Indiana Transit, Inc., in the matter of their petition for
pia rate increase. Request was made by Attorney Cholis that the Board proceed with the
required publication of notice for public hearing to be held in the office of the Board
at 11:00 A. M., Monday, January 9, 1956• The Board being in agreement, directed the
Clerk to proceed to publish such notice.
The Board next gave consideration to the extending and paving of Riverside Drive
through the Sewage Treatment Plant, from the Colfax Road north to the south right of
way line of Cleveland Road, and authorized Consoer -, Townsend & associates to prepare
plans and specifications accordingly. The basis for such plans and specifications
,shall be 2% for preparation of plans and specifications and 3% for supervision; the
;net total fee not to exceed 5% of the total cost of construction. The work to be per -
,formed by the Sollitt Construction Company on a forth -coming contract supplement.
The time now being 11:00 o1clock, it was so announced and the Board proceeded to
open the single bid received for -the construction of the Beverley Street local sewer.
The only bid received was as follows:

SOUTH BEND, Indiana.
A non -collusion affidavit and
certified check in the amount
$200.00 accompanied -the bid.
TOTAL EXTENSION OF ITEMS 1, 2, & 3..............$3490.00
Completion Date - 60 Calendar Days.
The above bid was referred to Chas. W. Cole & Son, Engineers, for tabulation
and report.
The Board next considered, and upon the recommendation of Consoer, Townsend and
Associates, colsulting engineers, approved Contract Supplement No. 20, dated October
i13.. 1955, pertaining to Contract No. 11-52-137, Sollitt Construction Company, Contractor.'

Consideration was next given Contract Supplement No. 21, dated November 23, 1955
also pertaining to Contract No. 11, Sollitt Construction Company, Contractor. The
Board approved this supplement upon the recommendation of Consoer, Townsend & Associates
Consulting Engineers.
The Board next took note of letter, dated December 15, 1955, from the O'Brien
`corporation, over the signature of Jerome J. Crowley, Jr., wherein they accept the
conditions set forth in the Board's letter of December 14, 1955, pertaining to the
vacation of Johnson Street, between Orange and Washington Streets. Further action
in this matter was held in abeyance.
�- A petition dated December 19, 1955, submitted by Hartman Builders, Inc., for
the vacation of certain lots in Chicago Plaza Addition, was next examined and referred
to the City Planning Commission for investigation and recommendation.
The time set for hearing in the matter of Taxi -cab Driver's License applicant
George W. Morris, having elapsed, and no persons appearing in this matter, denial
of license on the part of the City Controller, was, accordingly, sustained by the
Board.
Requisitions for sign blanks, and sign faces, totaling $240.00 and $340.00
respectively, needed by the Traffic Engineer's Department, were considered and the
Clerk was directed to proceed with the purchase of this material.
The Board next considered an application for permit to occupy public property
submitted by Charles C. Taylor for Yeager Motor Company, in connection with Building
Permit No. 2522, and granted approval, contingent upon favorable recommendation of
the Traffic Engineer.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 11:35 A. M.
