Completion date - 60 calendar days.
All of the foregoing street improvement bids were referred to the consulting
engineers for tabulation and recommendations.
The Board next took note of the letter of Charles F. Morfoot, under date of
September 10, 1955, addressed to Mayor John A. Scott, and, in the matter of the possible
.need for traffic signals at the intersection -of Madison and Eddy Streets, referred this
suggestion to Traffic Engineer, E. 11. Miller for investigation and report.
The Board next considered the Traffic Engineer's need for four two-way three -section
:traffic signal heads and nine one-way two -section traffic signal heads, approved the
purchase of this equipment and directed the Clerk to proceed accordingly.

The Board then approved the installation of YIELD RIGHT OF WAY signs at each of
;'the following locations:

Northwest corner of Ford at Sample Street
Southeast corner of Canterbury at Elwood Avenue
Northwest corner of Sussex Drive at Ardmore Trail
Both sides of Marine Street at Bowman. -
Excavation Bond in the sum of $1,000.00 was examined and approved for Goheen
Plumbing and Heating Co., Inc.
Contractor's Bond in the sum of $1,000.00 was examined and approved for Floyd
J. Wachowiak.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 11:55 A. M.

SPECIAL MEETING
September 15, 1955
A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday,
September 15, 1955, for the purpose of awarding contracts for street improvements on
Olive Street, Etiving Avenue and Miami Street. Mr. J. A. Bickel was absent.
Upon recommendation by the consulting engineer, the Board awarded the contract
for the widening of Olive Street from Western Avenue to Washington, (west side only) to
McIntyre & Jones, as they submitted the lowest and best bid.
Rieth-Riley Construction Company was awarded the contract for the paving of
Ewing Avenue, from Michigan Street to Franklin Street, as their bid was the lowest and
best bid submitted.
The bid of Rieth-Riley Construction Company for the construction of hot asphaltic
concrete re -surfacing of Miami Street, from Ireland Road to Ridgedale Road, was
accepted by the Board and contract awarded accordingly.
The Board then gave -further consideration to the matter of the construction of
a re-inforced Portland Cement Concrete Pavement on Sample Street, from Falcon Street
to Kentucky Street, and authorized the Clerk to proceed with the required advertising
for bids.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 11:15 A. M.
