SPECIAL MEETING
August 28, 1953
The Board met at 200 P.M. C.S.T. Friday August 28, 1953, in the office of the
Board of Public Works and Safety., Room 7, City Hall, for the purpose of receiving and
opening bids for the sale of $150,000.00 in municipal bonds of 1953 for the Sanitation
Department of the City of South Bend. One member, Mr. Ray S. Afidrysiak, was absent.
Sealed bids were received, each bid being accompanied by a certified check in the
amount of $1500.00, and were opened by the Board as follows:
BACON, WHIPPLE & COMPANY
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Bid offered a premium of $45.00 and an interest rate of
1-7/8% per annum.
PLETCHER TRUST CO.
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA
Bid offered a premium of $181.00 and an interest rate of
2-1/8% per annum.
BRAUN, BOSWORTH & CO.
TOLEDO, OHIO.
Bid offered a premium of $111.00, plus $99.00
additional premium authorized by telegram, and
and interest rate of 2f per annum.
MERRILL, LYNCH, PIERCE, PENNER & BEANE,
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
Bid offered a premium of $28.28 and an interest rate of
1-7/8% per annum.
The bid of Bacon, Whipple & Company was accepted.
Meeting adjourned at 2:45 P. M.
