HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/05/1951 Board of Public Works MinutesIN NOTICE OF HEARING SPECIAL BENEFITS ON STREET IMPROVEMENT No. Zb75, 1951 South Bend, Indiana November 9, 1951 November 2, 1951 Notice is hereby given, that the following Street Improvement has been completed, the general character of the Improvement, the street, alley or public place on which it has been made, and the terminal points thereof, are as follows ILLINOIS STREET PAVEMENT from the south line of "Western Avenue to the north line of Huron Street. There is on file in the office of the City Controller of said City an Assessment Roll with the names of the owners and description of property subject to be assessed wi the amount of the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the office of said City Controller. The Board of Public Works and Safety of said City, at the office of the Board in said City, will on the 12th day of November, 1951, at 10:00 o'clock AM -CST receive and hear remonstrances against the amounts assessed against their property respectively, on said roll and will determine the question.as to whether such lots, or tracts of land, have been or will be benefited by said Improvement to the amounts named on said roll, or is greater or less than that named on said roll or in any sum. Mr. Miller was graned permission to attend a meeting at Champaign, Illinois, Novem- ber 13 and 14, 1951. TAXI CABS: A letter was sent to Eugene Kovacs directing him to appear before the Board on Tuesday, November 13, 1951, to show cause why his taxi driver►s license should not be revoked. • • • • • 0 ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: An Excavation Bond was approved and ordered filed for John B. Hendricks. A petition was received requesting the vacation of Bowman Street from the west side of Main Street to the Pennsylvania rdlroad tracks. This was referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. i A petition w,s received requesting the vacation of the alley running north and sout from Western Avenue to Monroe Street between Columbia and Carroll Streets. S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the awards of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the north and south alley between Webster Street and Arnold Street from the north line of Ewing Avenue to the south line of the first east and west alley north of Ewing Avenue under Vacation Resolution No. 2690. In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that itw ill meet in the City Hall at 11.00 a.m., on the 26th day of November for the purpose of hearing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation, and • the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of damage awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishing same on the 9th day of November and on the 16th day of November, 1951, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the Weekly Record. City Hall at 11:00 a.m., on the 26th day of November, for the purpose of hearing and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation, and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of damage awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to^t he property owners by publishing same on the 9th day of November and on the 16th day of November, 1951, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the Weekly Record. D. 887.50 Medow, Inc., Ben 17.94 r • • • • 0 VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2690 This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by the Board of'Public Works.f or the vacation of the North and South alley between Webster Street and Arnold Street from the North line of Ewing Avenue to the Southline of the First East and West alley North of Ewing Avenue under Vacation Resolution No. 2690 The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerks it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be ,finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Eng i1jeering Department is directed to prepare an assessment roll covering the assessment of benefits and the award of damages to the surrounding properties VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2691 This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by the Board of Public Works for the vacation of the first alley South of Calvert Street from Swygart Avenue West to -the East line of the North and South alley, and from the West line of -the North. and South alley west to Walnut Streit under Vacation Resolution No. 2691. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with, the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the said alley be vacated, The.Engineering Department is directed to prepare an assessmentroll covering the assessment of benefits and the award of damages to the surrounding properties.
