HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/15/1951 Board of Public Works Minutesi WELLINGTON STREET from the south line of Huron Street to the north line of Ford Street In accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2679, 1951, AND NORTH SHORE DRIVE from the west line of Michigan Street to the east line of Lafayette 1Blvd., in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2682, 1951, passed by this Board on 'August 20, 1951, and confirmed by this Board on September 17, 1951, we hereby report that we 'we have examined the several bids submitted to the Board on October 1, 1951 and find that ,the Reed Construction Company, Mishawaka, Indiana, has the lowest and best bids for Class ftCn pavements on Illinois and Wellington Streets and Bituminous Concrete (AHJ re -surface ,pavement on North Shore Drive and that all other bids were over Engineerts Estimate. We recommend that the kind of pavements placed on Illinois and Wellington Streets b �a Class "Cr' - Cement Concrete pavements; and a Bituminous Concrete (AH) Re -surface paveme t ton North Shore Drive. Christman Construction Company was granted permission to construct a tem- porary walkway at 112 1i+est Jefferson Boulevard for work being done at the National Bank and Trust Company. Turnock. Contractorst Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Cletis Asher, Mishawaka; Charles W. Aulm; Charles V. Berta; Felix Hartmann; and W. D. Ruffner. Pursuant to request, Mr. Lynch representing the South Bend Engraving Company rela- tive to a smoke nuisance. Mr. Lynch informed the Board that his company will try to ex- tend the smoke stack on their building as well as using a better grade of coal in order to eliminate the nuisance. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2691, 1951 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: THAT it is desirable to vacate the following: THE FIRST ALLEY SOUTH OF CALVERT STREET from Swygart Avenue west to the east line of the north and south alley and from the west line of the north and south alley west to Walnut Street.
