Re: WEST ONE-HALF ( 2 ) of FELLOWS STREET PAVEMENT
Resolution Number 2670-1951
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, hereby
certifies as follows:
That there is a contract, dated June 11, 1951, by and between the City of South Be.
Indiana, and the Reed Construction Company, 1iishawaka, Indiana, for the construction by
said Reed Construction_Company of a Class "C" Cement Concrete Pavement, Curb and side-
walk on the i,,ie s t one-half ( 2 ) of Fellows Street from the south line of Sherwood Avenue
to and including part of James Monroe School property, and that the final amount of the
contract is $16,616.00.
That said Reed Construction Company has completed the construction of said improve-
ment according to the terms of said contract and that eighty-five (85) per cent of the
final amount of said contract is $15,209-?3- That said contractors will be entitled to
receive the said eighty-five (85) per cent or $15,209.73, either in cash or street im-
provement bads to be hereinafter collected or issued by the City of South Bend, Indiana,
in the manner provided by law. IN WITNESS 01=REOF, the Board of Public Works and Safety
of the City of South Bend, Indiana, has issued this Certificate on this 30th day of
July, 1951-

The Board approved plans for the redesigning of the safety islands in theLincoln
Way East and East Jefferson Boulevard intersection.
BUSSES: A letter was received from the Northern Indiana Transit requesting permission to
extend the Miami Street line from Woodside to Chippewa to Amhurst, thence returning to
Miami and back into town on Miami Street. The Board granted permission for this change
effective September 1, 1951.

pre-sented to the Board, to be known as Belleville Gardens, 2nd Unit an addition to South

This plat and dedication is filed in the records of the Board of Public Works and
Safety in Row #/$ , Drawer # ( , and recorded in Book 18 , Page"B" , in the Recorder's
Office of St. Joseph County.
NOW,THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, that all public streets, alleys and public places dedicated to the
;public use in said plat are hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on behalf
of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
DEDICATION OF' PUBLIC ALLEY

The South Bend Toy Manufacturing Company, a corporation, being the owner in fee
simple of the tract of real estate herein below described, does hereby dedicate to the p
,public for use as a public alley said real estate, which is situated in St. Joseph County
• Indiana, and is described as follows, to -wit:

A tract or parcel of land bounded by a line beginning at a point on the east line
of High Street in the City of South Bend, Indiana, 48 feet south of the southeast
corner of the intersection of High Street and Sample Street in said City; thence
east parallel to the south line of said Sample Street a distance of 98.06 feet; then
southeast a distaace of 111.72 feet to a point on the north line of a public alley
which point is 127 feet south of the south line of said Sample Street and 177 feet
east of the east line of said High Street; thence west on the north line of said
alley a distance -of 28.28 feet to a point 148.72 feet east of the east line of
said High Street; thence northwest a distance of 83.44 feet to a point 68 feet south
of the south line of said Sample Street and 89.76 feet east of ,the east line of said
• High Street; thence west parallel to the south line of said Sample Street a distance
89.76 feet to the east line of High Street; thence north along the east line of
High Street a distance of 20 feet to the place of beginning.

The Board accepts the above described strip of land for use as a public alley.
The Board approved sewer plans for Meadow Lane for the Colpaert Realty Corporation.

A letter was sent to the owners of the building on the northwest corner of Lafayette
Boulevard and Western Avenue informing them that upon the termination of the present j
occupance, L. 0. Gates, the curb must be restored to its original position and angle -park'
ing on Western Avenue must be eliminated.

Mr. Nathan Levy appeared before the Board representing his client, George Bernath 11
requesting permission for the installation of a sign post on Western Avenue extending j
eastward beyond Michigan Street at a point five (5) feet north and one (1) foot east of
the west end of the northerly railroad bumper. Permission was granted for the installa-
tion of said sign post with the understanding that the said pole will be removed upon
30 days notice by the Board.
VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2674
This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award
of damages and the assessment of behefits in the matter of vacation of THAT PORTION OF
THE ALLEY 127 FEET SOUTH OF SAMPLE STREET FROM HIGH STREET EAST, described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the east line of High Street 127 feet south of the southeast
corner of the intersection of High Street and Sample Street, which point of beginning is
At the intersection of the east line of High Street and the north line of said alley; t
Thence east along the north line of said alley, and parallel to the south line of Sample
Street, a distance of one hundred forty-eight.and seventy-two hundredths (148.72)feet;
thence southeast a distance of 19.8 feet,to a point on the south line of said alley,
which point is one hundred forty-one (141) feet south of the south line of Sample Street':
and one hundred sixty-two and seventy-one hundredths (162.71) feet east of the east line
of High Street; thence west along the south line of said alley, and parallel to the south;
line of Sample Street, a distance of one hundred sixty-two and seventy-one hundredths
(162.71)_feet to the east lineof High Street; thence north along the east line of High
Street a distance of fourteen (14) feet to the point of beginning, under Vacation Reso-
lution No. 2674.
In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remon-
strances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofsof publication of notices
and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several lots
and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll.
The Board, therefore, decided to take final action on said assessment roll and declares
same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceed:
ings closed, and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from
the various property owners so benefited and all proceedings had with reference to said
alley vacation are hereby sustained.
VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2680
This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by
the Board of Public Works for the vacation of the alley West of Main Street from south
line of Donald Street to Ewing Avenue under Vacation Resolution No. 2680. The Clerk of
the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having appeared
and no writen remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and
unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the said alley be
vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to prepare an assessment roll covering
the assessment of benefits and the award of dxnages to the surrounding properties.

This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by `
the Board of Public Works for the vacation of the first alley north of Huron Street from
Warren Street to Carlisle Street under Vacation Resolution No. 2681. The Clerk of the
Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrators having appe aredi
and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved, aeconded
and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the said alley !'
be vacated. The Engineering Department is directed to prepare an assessment roll cover-+
