ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractors' Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Donald Bowerman; Leroy Hitchner; Ike K. Knutson; Oden_R. Robertson; and Snyder & May General Mason Contractors. I; i Excavation Bonds were approved and ordered filed for the Indiana Bell Telephone Co.,'; and George E. Sibley Company. js A petition was received asking for the improvement of Illinois Street by a pavement from Washington Street to Linden Avenue. This was referred to the City Engineer for in- vestigation and report. A petition was received asking for the vacation of the first alley south of Califor nia from Wilbur Street to the first alley west of Wilbur Street; and, also, the first alley south of California from Adams Street to the first alley east of Adams Street. Th was referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report. A letter was received from the Indiana and Michigan Electric Company asking permiss to remove and replace sidewalks over transformer vaults at nine locations in the South Bend business district. Permission was granted for the said remodeling. A Certificate of Insurance was filed by the Reed Construction Company on cars and motor vehicles. The New York Central Railroad Company withdrew their remonstrance against the asses- sment roll on Improvement Resolution Number 2644-1950 and the Board now confirms the said Assessment Roll. - VACATION RESD LUTION NO. 2678 This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by thei Board of Public Works for the vacation of alley between Main and Michigan Streets from Navarre Street north to the south line of the alley north of Navarre Street under Vacati.oll Resolution No. 2678. The vacation of this alley having been approved contingent to plans; bearing the signature of approval of the various utilities, whose facilities are involved; in this alley, and said plans not having been received by the Board to date, hearing on said vacation resolution is now continued until Monday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. 0 CONTRACTORS COMPLETION AFFIDAVIT STATE OF INDIANA ) No. 2669-1951- SS t ST. Board, in the City Hall, in said City, will open and consider sealed bids, and designate by preliminary order the kind of pavement to be used, for the following described Street improvements, as provided for in Improvement Resolution No. 2643-1950, duly passed by said Board on June 25, 1951, and confirmed on July 23, 1951, to wit: RANDOLPH STREET from the east line of 'lwyekenham Drive to the west line of Robinson St., by constructing a Class "C" pavement, AND VINE STREET from the east line of Twenty-sixth Street to the west line of Twenty-seventh Street.by constructing a Class "C".pavement,/AND under Vacation Resolution No. 2672�1951 TWENTIETH STREET from the south line of Mishawaka Avenue to the south lira of Hammond & Whitcomb's Addition by constructing a Class "C" pavement, under Vacation Resolution No. 2673-1951.
