A letter was received from the Colpaert Realty Corporation asking that stre6t signs be installed in Garden Village 2nd and 3rd Additions. This was referred to Mr. Brannan for action. This being the date set for receiving bids for the LaSalle Street Sewer, the follow- ing bids were received and publicly read: Haines & Haines Construction 2526 South Main St., Elkhart, Indiana A Non -Collusion Affidavit with a Check in the amount of $7200.00 accompanied the bid. For the construction of Sanitary and Storm Sewer in Hydraulic'and LaSalle Avenues between LaSalle Avenue and the Race and between Niles Avenue and Sycamore Avenues respectively . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . $ 46,665.00 Niles Excavating Company A Non -Collusion Affidavit with Route No. 3, a Check in the amount of Niles, Michigan $2500.00 accompanied the bid. Fpr the construction of Sanitary and Storm Sewer in Hydraulic and LaSalle Avenues between LaSalle Avenue and the Race and between Niles Avenue and Sycamore Avenues, respectively 47,325.00 The above bids were rejected as they are both over the Engineerts Estimate for the cost of the work. The,Clerk of the Board was directed to re -advertise for bids for the LaSalle Avenue sewer, bids to be returned Monday, July 2, 1951. CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. A petition was received asking for the installation of traffic control signs &n West Angela Boulevard. This was referred to Mr. Miller for investigation and report. - Mr. Miller was granted permission to go to Indianapolis at a date convenient for him to discuss traffic signals to be installed on State Highways in South Bend. 16 !TAXI CABS: The Clerk of the Board was directed to advertise a public hearing on the ap- plication of United Cab Company, 320 East Jefferson Street for a taxi cab license. This hearing will be on Monday, June 25, at 11;00 a.m. GARBAGE DISPOSAL: A letter was received from Clyde E. Williams and Associates supplemeitt ing the proposal submitted by them on June 8, 1951, wherein they propose to make an eaten sive study and survey of garbage and refuse disposal in the City of South Bend for the sum of $900. The Board accepted the said proposal. i'ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT. The Board approved a permit for a temporary barricade in front i of 119 and 121 North Michigan Street for the construction of a building. A pedestrian , walk, equipped with a railing is to be provided. The alley extending from Michigan to • the first north and south alley is to be barricaded by temporary rails or horses, which t) can be removed in case of an emergency. Seventy-two feet of the rear alley is to be bar-i ricaded in a like manner. I The Niles Excavating Company filed a Continuation Certificate on their insurance cove�- ing pipe storing on the city streets. This was approved by the Board. 3 Contractor's Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Donly J. Barth; John Eherenma Sr.; Andrew N. Kramer; Eugene W. Louderback; -Walter Rounds; Walter Szymczak; and Stanley E.-Wesolowski. Excavation Bonds in the amount of $1,000 were approved and cr dered filed for W. H. 1Dreves, Inc; and 0. E. Frame d/b/a/ 0. E. Frame and Son. An Excavation Bond in the •1 amount of $2,000 was approved and ordered filed for Stanley E. Wesolowski. 1' A petition was received requesting the vacation of the alley west of Main Street '� between Donald and Ewing Streets. This was referred to the City Plan Commission for in- ii, vestigation and report. A petition was received requesting the vacation of a portion of the first east and west alley south of Sample Street extending east of High Street. The City Engineer was directed to prepare a Vacation Resolution for same. i A petition was reqeived requesting the construction of a pavement on St. Peters Stree from Corby Street to South Bend Avenue. This was referred to the City Engineer's office. i Rieth-Riley Construction presented a Certificate of Completion for the resurfacing of Main Street.
