TAXI CABS: Patrick Brennan and Joseph Pawlowski, attorneys filed an affidavit for Taxi
Cab License for the United Taxi Cab Company, Incorporated. This was referred to the
Controller's Of fice.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: An Excavation Bond was approved and ordered filed for Raymond
Goldstein.
A Contractorts Bond was approved and ordered filed for Bror Swanson. •

Mr. Don Enrich, representing South Bend Screw Products Company, appeared before tl
Board to ask permission to use a piece of City property near their building on East
Washington Street to be used for a ramp. Mr. Ehrich was asked to have an agreement dram
up by their attorneys covering the above petition.

j Mr. Chester Muszynski and twenty-six other property owners in the 'vicinity of Sou
!.Meade Street appeared before the Board to protest the use of South Meade Street by larg
i trucks and trailers. After discussion, the Board directed Mr. Miller, 'Traffic Engineer,
ito contact the trucking companies whose trucks use Meade Street and call a meeting at
which time the members of the Board, the representatives of the trucking companies and
j the Traffic Engineer, Mr. Miller, will fully discuss the matter to try to work out a
solution.

sworn upon oath deposes and says he is acquainted with Rieth-Riley Construction Company
the party to whom was awarded the contract and who performed the work under Improvement
Resolution No. 26471 1950•

That he is familiar with and personally knows the requirements of the plans and !
specifications of said improvement resolution and further knows that the said Rieth-
Riley Construction Company in the performance of said work complied with all the terms
and conditions of said plans and specifications in every particular, and that the mate l
used was of the character, kind, quantity and quality required therein and according to
and under the direction of the Board of Public Works and Safety.

Notice is hereby given, that the follwwing street improvement has been completed. The
general character of the improvement, the street, alley or public place on which it has
been made, and the terminal points thereof, are as follows: ALBERT STREET from the south) •
line of Ford Street to the north line of Sample Street with a Class "C" �"e 'l - Cement i
Concrete pavement.

There is on file in the office of the City Controller of said City an assessment
roll with the names of ,the owners and.description of property subject to be assessed with
the amount of the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the office of said City Con-
troller.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of said Ctty, at the office of the Board in said.
City, will on the 25th day of June, 1951, at 9:00 o1clock AM -CST receive and hear remon-
strances against the amounts assessed against their prolsrty respectively, on said roll ari
will determine the question as to whether such lots or tracts of land, have been or will •
be benefited by said improvement to the amounts named on said roll, or is greater or less
than that named on said roll or in any sum. At which place and time all owners of sin h r

Bend, Indiana, that the bids of the Reed Construction Company for the construction of
the improvements described in Improvement Resolutions Nos.. 2661, 2663, 26682 2669 & 2670
1951, passed by this Board on April 91 1951, and confirmed by this Board on May 70 1951,
be and the same are hereby adopted and that the City of South Bend, Indina, thru its Mayc
and Board of Public Works and Safety enter into a written contract vith said Reed Construc
tion Company for the faithful executor of such work, according to said bids, the detailed
!j plans and specifications and the terms of said Resolutions, provided that before entering
upon the performance:.of°said contracts, said Reed Cors truction Company shall give bond,
jin the amount equal to one hundred (100) per cent of the contract price for such work
with a Surety Company legally authorized to transact business in the State of Indiana,
• 1 as Surety, to the approval of this Board, to secure the performance of such contracts,
and,shall give a Maintenance Bond in the amount equal to fifty (50) per cent of the con-
tract price for such work, with a Surety Company legally authorized to transact business
in the State of Indiana, as Surety, to the approval of this Board to warrant and quarante
the , work, material and. condition of the pavements for a period. of three (3) years, and tc
hold the City of South Bend, Indiana, harmless from payment of any debt or damage by rea:
of any act of such Contractor, and to secure the payments of all claims for labor and ma•
1I terial used in such improvements.

GARBAGE DISPOSAL: ams and Associates, wherein
A Proposal was received from Clyde E. Willi
they propose to make an extensive study and survey of garbage and refuse disposal for the
jCity of South Bend, Indiana for an amount not to exceed a maximum of $900. The Board
discussed this proposal, but before accepting it, asked that Clyde E. Williams and Asso-
ciates should include in the survey the advisability of the City entering into the work
by having its own equipment and personnel.

A letter was received from. the Colpaert Realty Corporation asking that stre&t signs
be installed in Garden Village 2nd and 3rd Additions. This was referred to Mr. Brannan
for action.
This being the date set for receiving bids for the LaSalle Street Sewer, the follow-
ing bids were received -and publicly read:

Niles Excavating Company A Non -Collusion Affidavit with
Route No. 3, a Check in the amount of

Hydraulic and LaSalle Avenues between LaSalle Avenue
and the Race and between Niles Avenue and Sycamore

The above bids were rejected as they are both over the Engineerts Estimate for the
cost of the work. The,Clerk of the Board was directed to re -advertise for bids for the
LaSalle Avenue sewer, bids to be returned Monday, July 2, 1951.
