Home My WebLink About05/14/1951 Board of Public Works MinutesNOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS Nos. 2665, 2666 & 2667`- 1951 To Whom It May Concern. - South Bend, Indiana May 11, 1951 May 18, 1951 Notice is hereby given by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Southl'', Bend, Indiana, that it is deemed necessary to make the following described public improvell ments in the City of South Bend, Indiana, authorized by the following numbered Improvemen Resolutions passed by said Board on the 7th,day of May, 1951; Improvement Resolution No. 2665, 1951 for the improvement of WILBER STREET from the north line of Fassnacht Avenua_to the southerly line of LaPorte Avenue, AND Improvement Resolution No. 2666, 1951 for the improvement of KENMORE STREET from the north line of Western Avenue to the south line of Lirden Avenue, AND Improvement Resolution No. 2667, 1951 for the improvement of WELLINGTON STREET from the north line of Western Avenue to the south line of Linden Avenge by constructing Class '"C" pavements. All work done in the making of said described public improvements shall be in actor dance with the terms and conditions of Improvement Resolutions Nos. 2665, 2666 and 2667, 1951, adopted by the Board of Public lr�Torks and Safety on the above named day, and the pro files, drawings, plans, general details, specifications and estimates to be adopted by the Board of Public Works and Safety of such City, upon the final ddoption of said Resolu tions and placed on file in the office of the Department of .Engineering of said City. The Board of P'�blic Vtorks and Safety will meet in its office in the City Hall on the 31st day of May, 1951, at the hour of 6:30 otclock its for the purposeof hearing and considering all remonstrances, which may have been filed or which may be presented, ;and will hear all persons interested or whose property is affected by said proposed im- provements, and will decide whether the benefit that will accrue to the property, abuttin jand adjacent to the proposed improvements and to said City, will be equal to or exceed Ilthe estimated cost of the proposed improvements as estimated by the City Civil Engineer. I? _ Mr. Miller presented the following outline on one-way street traffic and the Board approved said outline: Williams Street - one-way South from Washington Avenue to South i Street; Lafayette Boulevard - one-way North from South Street to Madison Street; South { Street - one-way East from Williams Street to Lafayette Boulevard. • The following changes in state route traffic were also approved; State Route #22 ;traffic that ordinarily travels south on Lafayette and east on Monroe will be routed eas- �on Western to Michigan Street; State Route #23, traffic that ordinarily travels south on ;!Lafayette Boulevard will be rerouted south on Michigan Street to Western Avenue and then West; U.S. 20, traffic that ordinarily travels south on Lafayette Boulevard will be re- routed east to Main Street, south on Main Street to Colfax and then east. j PARKING LOTS: An application for a parking lot at 534 North Niles Avenue by Nick Simeri was approved by the Board and referred to the Controllerts office. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor3l Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Frank 0. ;Barnes; Gent el . Dhaeze ; D. G. Gallacher d/b/a Unique Distributing Company; Herman F. • ''Glaser, Jr.; and Forest Guise. A Certificate of Insurance was filed by Rieth Riley Construction Company to cover work done on North Main Street. A petition was received requesting the vacation of the first alley north of Huron j Street from Warren Street to Carlisle Street. This was referred to the City Plan Com- I mission for investigation and report. A petition was received J. Chester Allen, representing Better Homes of South Bend !Incorporated, requesting construction of sidewalks under the Barrett Law Plan. This was • ;referred to the City Engineerts office.
