TAXI CABS. A letter was received from Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, indicating that he recommends thtt the request for a cab stand at the north east corner of Western Ave., and Main Street on the north side of 'V.,Festern Avenue at the first im ter east of Main St., by the Yellow Cab Company be denied, as there is already in service a two -cab stand located just east of the proposed location serving the Union Bus Depot. The Board, then upon denied the petition of the Yellow Cab Company for the above -named cab stand as ad- ditional taxi service in that immediate area is, in the. Board's opinion, unnecessary. BUSSES: A letter was received from the Northern Indiana Transit, Incorporated, request- ing permission to reduce the service and milegge operated on Sundays and holidays. No action was taken. ENQI.NEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractors Bonds for Lyle D. Burnside and Philip M. Glassman d b a B. & G. Construction; Frank J. Ellis and Margaret A. Ellis d/b/a Ellis Construc- tion Company; W - W Construction Company; Stanley J. Wachowiak; and Peter R. Wisniewski were approved and ordered filed. An Excavation Bond in the amount of $1,000 for the Sollitt Construction Company, Inc.; Edcavation Bond in.the amount of $10,000 for ColpaertRealty Corporation; and Excavation Bond in the amount of $5,000 for Percival Hains d/b/a Haines & Haines were approved and ordered filed. The Board approved plans for street improvement, curb only, for Jefferson Street from Chicago Street to Kenmore Street for the Colpaert Realty Corporation. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2659 This being the date set for continued hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 2659, come now Richard Kaczmarek, Attorney for the remonstrators, who requests the hearing on the above resolution be continued until April 16, 1951 at 11:00 a.m. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2660 Raymond S. Anrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the awar of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of CHERRY TREE LANE from the west line of Ironwood Drive to the west line of Morris County Club Additi 190 feet long by 60 feet wide under Vacation Resolution No. 2660. The meeting was called for the purpose of awarding bids for the following: STREET DEPARTMENT: The Board accepted the bid of Stockberger Seastrom, Incorporated, or one 1 Mode SG-26S Skid Mounted Portable Steam Generator for the sum of $2,755.00, their bid being, in the Board's opinion, the lowest and best bid received, subject to tr approval of the Common Council. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: The Board accepted the bid of Rieth-Riley Construction Company or the resurfacing of North Main Street from the North line of I'estern Avenue to the South line of LaSalle Avenue for the sum of $431469.50,their bid being, in the Board's opinion, the lowest and best bid received, subject to the approval of the Common Council.
