There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m. IATTEST: December !_, 1950 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Zorks was held Monday, December 4, 1950 at 9:30 a.m. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap- proved. Salary claims in the amount of $25,879.88 were approved and ordered paid. RAILROADS: The following letter was written to the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, dated February 23, 1950 W. L. Dayton, Signal Engineer Grand Trunk Western Railroad 441 East Jefferson Avenue, Detroit 26, Michigan Dear Mr. Dayton; The Board of Public {forks and Safety discussed the matter of safety precautions at thier regular meeting held on Monday, February 20, 1950. Pursuant to unanimous agreement of the Board, the Grand Trunk Western Railroad is hereby directed to erect short -arm automatic gates at the grade crossings in South Bend, at Logan Street and at Twenty-sixth Street. VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2656 This being the date set, hearing was bled on the assessment roll showing the award of da- mages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of Vacation of the first alley south of Fredrickson from O'Brien Street to the east line of the north and south alley AND from the west line of the north and south alley to Huey Street under Vacation Resolution No. 2656. In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrance$ were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same wefe found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several lots and parcels of laid have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll. The Board, therefore,, decided to take final action on said assessment roll and declares same in all things ra- I tified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all proceedings had with reference to said allay vacation are hereby sustained.
