Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approv- ed. A petition was received for the elimination of parking on the east side of Kendall • :;Street in the 1500 block. This referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and report. The Board authorized the Clerk of the Board to advertise for bids for an automobile :for the Traffic Engineer. . ENGINEERING DEPART�NT: An Excavation Bond was approved and ordered filed for W. H. Drev js, `,�Tncorporated. � i Mr. John W. O'Brien representing the St. Joseph Bank appeared before the Board and 1presented a drawing mode by E. R. .Austin, N. R. Chambeau, and C. J. Hammond, Civil Engi- • Ineers. Job listed as #665, Sheet #29. This drawing showed ample space on private pro- perty to accommodate two telephone booths to be located in front of the building on South;; :Michigan Street. Inasmuch as the booths are to be located on private property, the Board,! approved the drawing. j The Board approved plans establishing the grade on the alley east of Michigan Street ::between Klinger and Chippewa for 1,!hitcomb and Keller. I A letter was received from Attorney Arthur May, Sr., in regard to certain property Morth of the City Limits and west of Portage .Avenue authorizing the City Street Depart- j! lment through the Board of Public Works and Safety to dig several test holes to determine ;the quality and quantity of gravel that may be deposited in this territory. If tests ii • ,prove that the quality or quantity is unsuitable, in this deposit, then the City agrees it !to backfill the'test holes leaving the said tracks of land in a condition the same as is now. If, however, the gravel proves satisfactory, then we will further negotiate for ; jthe purchase of the gravel. The Street Commissioner informed the Board that he was in need of a truck for the Sower' Department and the Clerk of the Board was authorized to advertise for same. Mr. H. McCollum representing the Knights of Pythias asked permission to have a 8tree Dance for one night only, on July 7, 1950 from the hours of 6-11:00 p.m., to be located on Brookfield Street from Washington to the first alley north of Washington. Permission was granted. Mr. Maurice C. Ver_net, Auditor, presented his report for the eek ending June 24, 1950. ETERY DEPARTNERNT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining his Department were discussed.
