A petition was received by the Board asking for the erection of a Traffic Signal at
Twyckenham Drive and East Calvert Street. This was referred to Mr. Miller for investiga-
tion and report. I •
ENGINEERING DEPARTI ENT: An Excavation Bond in the amount of $1,000 was approved and
ordered filed for Walter J. Braunsdorf & Son.
The Board approved plans and specifications for paving South East Drive, Irvington
.Avenue and Greenwood Drive in Tivyckenham Hills Addition, Section "B" for the Crown Deve-

the execution of Contract, if said work is awarded to him.

the Department of Engineering.

The total cost of said improvement, including all incidental costs such as advertis-
'ng, abstracting, inspection and engineering, shall be assessed upon the real estate abut
1 ing on said .ABOVE STREETS to be improved, all according to the method and manner provide
• or in an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled, "An Act Concern-
'ng Municipal Corporations' approved March 6th, 1905, and in accordance with and pursuant
o the provisions of all amendatory and supplemental acts thereto, passed by the General
Assembly of the State of Indiana.

Assessments, if deferred, are to be paid in ten equal installments, with interest at the
rate of six (6) per cent per annum. (A bond or bonds shall be issued to the contractor
in payment of assessments, as the several owners of real estate upon which they are a lie
Exercise the right to pay the same in ten equal installments.) Under no circumstances sh
the City of South Bend, Indiana, be or be held responsible for any sum or sums,due,from
said property owner or owners for said work, or for certificate or certificates, bond or
bonds, issued to said contractor in payment for.such work, except for such moneys as shal
have been actually received by the City from assessments for such improvement, or such mo
neys as the City is by said entitled Act and the provisions of all Acts amendatory and
supplemental thereto, required to pay. All proceedings had and work done in making of sa
improvement, assessment of property, collection of assessments and issuance of bonds they
for, shall be as provided for in said entitled Act and amendments thereto.
The 14th day of March, 1950 at the hour of 7:30 o'clock PM -CST is hereby fixed as th

STREET DEPARTMENT:_ Mr. Melton Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per-
taining to his Department were discussed.
It was the decision of the Board to accept the following bids:for equipment for the
Street Department: Ben Medow Incorporated, 4 - 12 Ton Trucks at a total sum of $8,146,00
Korte Brothers, one (1) .Austin Western Sweeper for the sum of $6,499,00; The Deeds Equip-
ment Company, one (1) Tractor for the sum of $4,090.00; and the Indiana Equipment Company
two (2) Graders for the total sum of $8,999.00.
CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining
To his Department were discussed.
,A..RKING METER DEPARTMENT: Mr. Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the
eek ending February 19, 1950.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
