A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held Tuesday, January 3, 1950
at 10:30 a..m. All members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved. There were no claims of suppliers to be approved.
TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT s, Mr. Ernest 11111er, Traffic, Engineer, was present and matters pertain
ing to his Department, were discussed.
ENGINEERING DEPART.=JENT: _ Excavation Bonds were approved and ordered filed for: Phillip
Cohn Plumbing and Heating Company; C. S. Randolph, Abe Medow, d/b/a as Medow Plumbing and
Heating Company; Victor Tripple and Slutsky Plumbing and Heat°_ng Company Incorporated.
Sewer plans were approved for Ash Lane and Crest Avenue in the Tti.ynckenham Hills Addition
Section B and South East Drive, Sheets 1 and 2 in Twynckenham hills Addition, Section B
for the Crown Development Company.
STREET DEPARTMENT: Melton Brannon, Street Commissioner, was present and matters pertain-
ing to his department were discussed.

RAILROADS: The Board directed that a letter be sent to the Superintendent of the Grand
Trunk Western Railroadq relative to requests semt 'them for the installation of an over-
head light at Ironwood Drive on the North Side of the tracks. The Board requested that •
immediate steps to complete this installation be taken.

D XI CABS: This being the date set, hearing was held on the application of Coy Rand, Jr.
for a Taxi Cab License. The Clerk of the Board having shown proof of publication of the
notice, same was found sufficient by the Board. No remonstrators having appeared, and
no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, the Board granted to-e above
application.
ENGIN ERli�11U DEPAETI._LINT:: Excavation Bond's in the amount of 1,000 were approved and o
filed for the following: Edward J. White; Ed L. Zimmerman, and John W. Rensberger.
A petition was received asking for the vacation_ of alley running north and south
from East Campeau Street to East Chalfant Street and vacation of alley running east and
west from North Arthur Street to North Eddy ;Street. T11 s was referred to the City Plan
Commission for investigation and report.
A petition was received requesting the vacation of the North and South alley lying
between said lots nu.abered One hundred Forty-three (143) and One Hundred Forty -Four (144)
from Ewing Avenue to the alley lying at the North end of the aforesaid lots. This was
referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report.
A petition was received, signed by nineteen (19) property owners, requesting the
improvement of alley between LaSalle Avenue and IcKinley Street from Twyckenham Drive
to Esther Street by the construction of a concrete pavement. T:is was referred to the
City Engineer.
RAILROADS: Letter was received_ from the Grand Trunk Railroad System signed by L. L.
Thompson, Freight Agent informing the Board that Ir. Thernstrom had authorized the India
and Mich! gan Electrical Company to install a street light at t'1- Grand Trunk Tracks at
Ironwood Drive. This was in'response to a letter fro.._ the Board requesting said instal-
lation.
PARKING IYIETER DEPARTI� NT: Mr. Maurice C. Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the
week ending January 15, 1950.
CEMETERY DEPARThENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, :,as present and ratters pertain-
ing to his Department were discussed.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Board adjourned at
10:00 a.m.
