A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, Augustl, 1949
at 9:00 A. M.. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and ap-
proved. Salary claims in the amount of 4�25,317.65 were approved and ordered paid. Clai
in the amount of 31,944.79 were approved and ordered paid to the following suppliers:

TRAFFIC DEPARTA'IENT: _ Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and .matters per-
taining to his department were discussed.
A petition was received asking for the installation of a traffic signal at the inte
section of South Bend Avenue and Notre Dame Avenue. As this is a. State Highway the
petition was refered to Mr. Miller who will in turn refer it to the State Highway Com-
mission.
BUS ROUTES:
A petition was filed with the Board asking for bus service on Lincoln Way, I1est to
the Butternut Road. This was refered to the Northern Indiana Transit, Inc, with a. re-
quest of a. report from them. T
ENGINEERING DEPAI�TT•21NT:
Contractor's Bonds in the amount of ";a1,000 were approved and ordered filed for
the Reed Construction Company; John Levandoslri; Lionel R. P,artin and William. Kaman.
A petition to pave,an alley between Kcmble Avenue and Douglas Street was referred
to the City Engineer for inspection and report.
VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2 596
BESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC IIORKS OF THE- CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDI.ANA: That it
is desirable to vacate the following:
Part of the Alley west of Vernon Street from Dubail North a
Fourteen (1141) feet.
distance of One Hundred
The following property may be injuriously effected by such vacation:
Lots numbered 14 to 19 and 27 to 33 inclusive, Leer's First addition also
Lots Numbered 21, 22 and 23 Lincoln School Addition.
Notice of this resolution will be published on the 5th day of August and on the 12
day of August, 1949 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the vieekly Mirror.
This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 22nd day of August, 1949 at
11:00 A. M. will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or af-
fected by these proceedings.

18th day of July, 19499 for the improvement of TWENTY-FIFTH STREET from the north line
of Mishawaka Avenue to the south property line of Lots "A" and "B" in Hastings, Wood-
ward and Gra.y's Addition be and the same is in all things confirmed.

Company the party to whom was awarded the contract and who performed the work under
Improvement Resolution No. 2570-1948.

Riley Construction Company in the performance of said work complied with all the terms

Notice is hereby given, that the following Street Improvement has been completed.
The general character of the Improvement, the street, alley, or public place on which
it has been made, and the terminal points thereof, are as follows: Greenlawn Avenue
from the south line of Mishawaka Avenue to the south property line of Lot 24 in Mikell'
Addition, by draining, grading and paving the roadway with a. Class "B", Type 1 (One)
Pavement.
There is on file in the office of the City Controller of said City an assessment
roll''.with the names of the owners and description of property subjedt to be assessed j
with the amount of the prima facia assessment, and can be seen in the office of said •
City Controller. I
The Board of Public ',forks and Safety of said City, at the office of the Board in
said City, will on the 15th day of August, 1949, at 10:00 o'clock A. i,. C. S. T. re-
ceive and hear remonstrances against the amounts assessed against their property resp-
ectively, on said roll, and will determine the question as whether such lots, or tracts
of land, have been or will be benefited by said Improvement to the amounts named on
said roll, or is greater or less than that named on said roll orin any sum. At which
place and time all owners of such real estate may attend in person or by representa-
tive and be heard.
