Turner, Navy Recruiting Station, appeared before the Board requesting permission for a Naval Exhibit to be held at Playland Park on July 12th7 13th and 14th, 1949. Permission was granted to sound siren at the Park at 1:00 )+ 30 and 7:30 P. M. Police to furnish escort when cavalcade enters town. Will make shourt detour on the main city streets to advertise same on the way to the park. Per- mission was granted. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: iA Contractor's Bond was approved and ordered filed for Joseph McAdam. Excavation Bonds in the amount of $1,,000 was approved and ordered filed for 0. E. Frame and Son; W. H. Dreves, Inc., and the Indiana Bell Telephone.Company. The Clerk of the Board was directed to advertise for bids for the paving of Olive Street at the Grace Street intersection. Bids to be returnable on July 25th, 1949. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ryon appeared before the Board asking them to assist in having the zoning board reconsider a decision they had made. Gentlemen: In the matter of the Bids for the improvement of Thirty -Second Street from the north line of Pleasant Street to the south line of Vine Street in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2591, 1949, passed by this Board on April 25, 1949. We hereby report that we have examined the several Bids submitted to the Board on July 51 1949 and find that the Rieth-Riley Construction Company has the lotirest and best bid for Class "C", Type 4 Pavement. ttCtt jl We recommend that the kind of Pavement placed on the above Street be Class Type 4, Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface Pavement. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering contracts and documents submitted by Consoer, Townsent and Associates. Tbie Board ordered that notices be placed in the South Bend Tribune and the Mirror -Press notifying bidders that bids will • be received up until 10:00 A. M. C. S. Main Street and also plans for the rebuilding of manholes at Michigan and Washington Streets and at the alley west of Main Street on Washington Street. I • The Board approved plans for a canopy and step arrangement for a building at 621 South Bendix Drive. STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton 0.
