A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Wednesday, June 8, 1949, at 11:00 A.,M. All members were present. The meeting was called for the purpose of receiving bids for the paving of certain streets in,the City of South Bend. The meeting was called for the purpose of approving the following reports from Charles W. Cole -on streets to be paved. ENGINEER'S REPORT South Bend, Indiana June 9, 194+9 The Board of Public Works & Safety, City of South Bend,. Indiana Gentlemen: In the matter of the Bids for the improvement of Stanfield Street from the Sbut line of Howard Street to the north line of Corby Street in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2585, 191+9, passed by this Board on May 23, 1949. We hereby report that we have examined the several Bids submitted to the Board on June 8, 191+9 and find that the Rieth Riley Construction Company, South Bend, Indiana has the lowest and best bid for Class"C" Type 1 - Portland Cement Concrete Pavement and the Rieth-Riley Construction Company, South Bend, Indiana has the lowest and best bid for Class "C"- Type 1+1 Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface Pavement. We recommend that the kind of Pavement placed on the above Street be Class"C" IlType 4, Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface. Respectfully submitted, • CHAS. W.
