A letter was received from Mr. C. H. Annala relative to a petition to condemn an
area Ror the widening of West Calvert Street, in which heestates that he wishes to dis-
cuss the matter further with the Housing Commission. The Clerk was directed to so in-
form the petitioners.
A communication was received from the Common Council instructing the Board of Public
Works to notify the operator of the dumping area in the 1300 block of South Bend Avenue,
that combustible materials must be kept separated in the dumping area and that they be
burned in an isolated area to prevent constant dump fires. The Clerk was directed to
write a letter to Mr, Luce informing him of,the above motion,
Joseph Doczy, 501 West LaSalle Street and William McCubbins, 716 N. Allen Street,
appeared before the Board to request the City io use their property at Dollar Lake as a
dump for street sweepings.. No action was taken as this area is five miles from the Cour
House and outside the City Limits,
PARKING METER DEPARTMENT: ___Mr, Maurice.C_._ Vennet, Auditor, presented his report for the
week ending May l th, 1949.
CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: _ r,.S.tanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters
to his department were discussed.
STREET DEPARTMENT: _lr� Melton 0, Brannon, Superintendent, was present and matters per-
taining to his department were discussed.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:00 A. M.

at 7:30 P. M. Mr. Baer was absent. The meeting was called for the purpose of public
hearings on Improvement Resolutions:

No. 2589 Howard Street from Notre Dame Avenue to Eddy Street

No, 2588 Grace Street from alley E. of Webster St to Oliver Farm Equip, Co
Property owners whose property is effected by the above Resolution'will have.a ten
(10) day period in which to file remonstrances against the Improvement Resolutions.

No. 2590 Twenty Fourth Street from Mishawaka Avenue to the G. T. W. R. R.
No. 2591 Thirty Second Street from Pleasant Street to Vine Street
No. 2593 California Street from Brookfield Street to College Street
No. 2595 Hamden Court from LaSalle Avenue to alley North of LaSglle Avenue
Property owners whose property is effected by the above Resolutions will have a to
(10) day period in which to file remonstrances against the Improvement Resolutions.
