TRAFFIC ENGINEERING: I r. Ernest Eiller, Traffic Engineer, eras present and matters per-
taining to his department were discussed.
BUS LINES: Mr. Bro�-rder, representing the � ;erican j_j Lines, appeared before the Board
to ask perrqissi on to operate a bus line with off-street par"dng and loading in the Yell
Cab lot a.t 309 Lincoln Way East, No action was taken pending further investigation.
TAXI -CABS: A petition was presented by Joseph Binder, through _r1is Attorney Leon Kowalsk ",
asking for the granting of a taxi-ca.b stand ' to be located at 127 Tdorth 1."ain Street. This
was referred to Mr. •"iller for investigation and report.
ENGINEERING DEPARTT,IENT: A petition to improve Grace Street from-{ebster Street to JTalnu
street was presented to the Board, and referred by them to the City Engineer.
A Contractor's bond was approved and ;ordered filed for Casmier Szewczyk. 9
Excavation bonds were approved and ordered filed for C. S. Randolph and Edward J.
White, Inc.
The following sewer plans were approved by the Board: Ford Strect fron Gladstone tc
Lombardy Drive; Juniper Place from Fair4,Ta.y to Ford Stre-at; Fairway from Sample Street to
Lombardy Drive; Greenview Avenue from Sample Strect to Lombardy Drive; Birchwood Avenue
from ,Sample Street to Lombardy Drive; Sample Street from Failway to Lombardy give.
Mr. Harold A. Smith appeared before

on the South Bend Shrine Club -on Lincoln T;:'ay East, to be used only on occasion when
needed. Per -fission was granted provided the Shrine Club carry sufficient insurance for
injury to persons or property.
STREET DEPART1,1ENT: TJir. Melton 0, Brannan, Superintendent, was present and matters per-
taining to his department were discussed.
it The Board approved two changes in the contract for the Street Department Buildings
jknown as General -Extra_Order No. 1 and Plumbing, Heating and Ventilating Extra, Order
No. 2. i
Mr. Brannan presented a List of materials needed by the St, rect Department, and the
