A special meeting of the Board of Public i,,orks was held on Tuesday, December 21, ,
194118 at 10:30 A.M. All members were present.
The meeting was called for the purpose of accepting bids for the equipment for the 1'
Street Department. The bids having been tabulated, the Board made the following awa.rds,l1
these bids being, in the Board's opinion, the lowest and best bids submitted: 1

PARKING METER DEPARTT/ENT: Mr. Maurice Vennet, Audi tor, filed his report for the week

The minutes were ordered changed to the effect that the one -hour period should be
changed to two-hour periods on St. Joseph Street from cstern to Monroe Street and on if
South Street from h-_ichigan to St. Joseph Street, as soon as the plates and signs are i; •
ready.
ENGINEERING DEPART ANT: A Petition was received asking for the installation of a setter
on Illinois Street from Ford Street to the alley South of lZestern Avenue. This was
referred to the City Engineer for investigation.
A petition was received asking for the installation of a sewer on Chicago Street
from Ford Str-:-et 4to the alley south of Western Avenue. This wa.s referred to the City
Engineer for investigation.

Excavation bonds were approved and ordered filed for Philip Cohn and Abe N. I'lledow,
d/b/a Medow Plumbing & Heating Company.
A Contractor's bond was approved and ordered filed for Lowell Ilatz.
Vacation Resolution'No, 2583
Mr. Ray S. Andrysiak, City Tmgineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the
• atra.rds of damages and the assessments of benefits in the matter , of the vacation of Vic-
toria, Street from Tti-,yckenha.m Drive to York Road, under vacation resolution No. 2583.
In the above named Assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that,it will meet in
'the City Hall at 11:00 A.M. on the 17th day of January, 1949, for the purpose of hearing
and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation,
and the Board further orders thatnotice of said hearing together°with the amount of
darna.ges awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishing
same on the 31st day of December, 1948 and the 7 day of January, 1949 in the South Bend
Daily Tribune and the vteekly 'lirror.
STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters
. pertaining to his department were discussed.
Mr. Brannan filed his report for the month of December, 1948.
