A special meeting of the Board of Public Vjorks was held on Tuesday, October 26,
1948 at 10:00 A.M. Mr. Troeger was absent.
The meeting was called for the purpose of r9ceiving the Engineer's report on
an,improvement resolution, as follows:
ENGINEER'S REPORT
October 26, 1948
The Board of Public Works and Safety,
City of South Bend, Indiana
Gentlemen:
In the matter of the bids for the improvement of Sibley Avenue from the West line
of Wilber Street to the East line of College Street in accordance with Improvement Res-
olution No. 2 580 1948, passed by this Board on September 30, 1948, We hereby report that
we have examined the several bids submitted to the Board on October 25, 1948 and find
that the Rieth-Riley Construction Company, Goshen, Indiana has the lowest and best bid
for Class C. Type 1, Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, and that the Rieth-Riley Con-
struction Company of Goshen, Indiana has the lowest and best bid for Class C. Type 4,
Compacted Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface.
We recommend that the kind cf Pavement placed on the above street be Class C, Type
4, Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface.

PRELIMINARY ORDER
Whereas, The Board of Public Works and Safety pursuant to its notice to do so met
on the 25th day of October, 1948 at the hour of 10:00 0 clock A.M. C.S.T. and publicly
opened and considered all bids for the improvement of Sibley Avenue from the West line o
Wilbur Street to the east line of College Street in accordance with Improvement Resolu-
tion No. 2580 1948, passed by this Board on September 30, 1948.
Therefore, Be it Resolved that the roadway of said street be improved by paving
with Class C. Type 4, Compacted Aggregate Base, Bituminous Concrete Surface.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:30 A.M.

at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read a.na
approved. Salary claims in the amount of $19,993.09 were approved and ordered paid.
