A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Tuesday, July 13, 1948
at 11:00 A.M. All members were present.
The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the bids on parking meters
previously received. All bids submitted by the various manufacturers of parking meters
were considered and the proposal submitted by the Dual Parking Meter Company of Canton,
Ohio was accepted as being, in the Board's opinion, the best bid, The City is to purcha
the meter with the sealed container. In accordance with the terms submitted in their
proposal, the Dual Parking Meter Company is to do the installing of the meters in. the
city. installation and parking specifications are to be worked out by the Dual Company
Engineer and the City Traffic Engineer.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was -adjourned
at 12:00 Noon. p

ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Excavation bonds were approved and ordered filed for Art Jordan
and John F. Gohr d/b/a Niles Excavating Company.
Contractor's bonds were approved and ordered filed for W4 J. Kline, Adams Roofing
and Construction Company, Schuell Nursery and Raymond Rossi.
A petition was received asking for the vacation of the first alley South of Jennings
Street from South Michigan Street East to the West line of the North and South alley.
This was referred to the Mayor and the City Plan Corr:ission. r
The Board approved the plans for paving Lord Street for the Colpaert Realty Company.
The Board approved plans for paving Altgeld Street and also plans for grading,
paving and a local sewer on York Road for the Twyckenham Hills Addition being developed
by the Place Company.
The Board received a reco-.mendation from Dymond A. Andrysiak, City Civil Engineer,
that the petition for the -improvement of O'Brien Strect .from -WashinCD
gton Avenue North to-'
the 300 block inclusive be granted. Which recommendation was in the following words:,
