A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, May 17, 1948
i at 9:30 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved. Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $2,292.77 were approved
and ordered paid:

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr, Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters pertain-
ing to his department were discussed.
Mr. Newhard, Principal of the Colfax School, requested that the 500 block of
Harrison Avenue be closed to traffic on May 26, 191+8 between 12:00 noon and 8:30 P.M.
for the purpose of holding a school celebration. The Board approved his request and
Mr. Miller was directed to barricade the street on the said date.
The bid of Ben Mddow, Inc,, was accepted for one one ton express truck for the
traffic department for $1,380,50 with a trade in allowance for one 1941 Chevrolet
truck of $100,00,
ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's bonds were approved and ordered filed for Harry
N. Barnes and Benjamin Buchholtz.

DEDICATION
WHEREAS, a plat with dedication of streets and alleys indicated thereon in now
presented to the Board, to be known as Pinhook Manor, an addition to South Bend, Indiana,;
and
This plat and dedication is filed in the records of the Board of Public Works and
jSafety in Row #21, Drawer #4, and recorded in Book 17, Page P, in the Recorder's office
of St. Joseph County,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of South Bend, Indiana, that all ptblic,streets,alleys and public places dedicated to
the public use in said plat are hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on
l behalf of the City of South Bend, Indiana.

The Board approved plans for local sewers on Dayton Street, Vernon Street and Dubail
!Avenue for Whitcomb & Keller, Inc.
:STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Melton 0. Brannon, Street Commissioner, was present and matters
,pertaining to his department were discussed.
CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining'
to his department were discussed.
There being no further business to come before the Board,
