This is state highway, but the request was referred to Mr. Miller. a TAXI -CABS: Mr. John Gonas and discussion on their Mr. F. Gerard Feeney came before the Board for a further request for taxi -cab stands for their clients, the Veterans Cab Company and A & A Flash Cabs. No decision was made. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT; A petition was received asking for the vacation of the first a North of Lincoln Way West from Sheridan Street to Illinois Street. This was referred to Mayor;Schock for approval. A letter was,received from the City Plan Commission indicating that they approve the vacation of a part of the East and West alley extending from the East line of South Carroll Street to the,West line of the North and South alley extending between the right-of-way of the Grand Trunk Railroad and East Monroe Street and also that part of t: East and blest alley extending from the West line of South Columbia Street to the East line of the North and South alley extending between the right-of-way of the Grand Trunk Railroad and East Monroe Street, and the Engineering Department was directed to prepare a vacation resolut,Lon to cover same. A letter was received from the City Plan Commission indicating that they approve the vacation of the alley South of Frederickson Street from Johnson Street to the first alley West of Johnson Street and,the Engineering Department was directed to prepare a vacation resolution to cover same. DEDICATION WHEREAS,,a plat with dedication of streets and alleys indicated thereon, previous- ly accepted by the City of South Bend, to be known as Section "D" (Supplemental Plat) of Belle Village, an Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana; This plat and dedication is filed in the records of the Board��of Public corks and Safety in Row #21, Drawer #4 and recorded in Plat Book #17 Page B in the Recorder's office of St. Joseph County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of South Bend, Indiana, that all public streets, alleys and,public places and utility easements are approved by said Board by and on behalf of the City of South Bend, Indiana. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned fat 10:00 A.M. !ATTEST: March 11, 1948 A special meeting of the -Board of Public T.:orks was held on Thursday, March 11, 1948 at 10:30 A.M. All members were present. The Board met for the purpose of discussing taxi -cab stands petitioned for by The Veterans Cab Company and the A & A Flash Cabs. It was agreed to direct Mr. -Ernest Miller to establish a two cab stand at the Northwest corner of Colfax and Michigan Streets, on Colfax Avenue, to be allotted to the A & A Flash Cab Company and also a two cab stand on South Main Street directly 'I in front of 114 South Main Street for the Veterans Cab Company. These stands were allotted on a temporary basis only. BUSSES: A letter was sent to the Northern Indiana Transit, Inc. requesting them to comply promptly with the recommendations contained in a report dated February 12, 1948 made by Ernest H. Miller and Leslie Williams with reference to the routing of busses. '! STREET,DEPARTI-,INT: The bid of Simon Brothers was accepted for rock salt for the Street i Department.
