The Board -directed that a letter be sent to Mr. Anderson Milliop., who petitioned i
for the cab stand now operated by Mr. Hunsberger located on the North side of Colfax I
Avenue just west of Michigan Street, informing him that the stand will exist only so ( •
long ap Mr. Hunsberger operates from it, and when he ceases to operate from the stand
the cab stand will cease to exist, j!

A petition was received asking forthe vacation of a part of the East and Westil
alley extending from the East line of South Carroll `Street to the West line of the j •
North and .South alley extending between the right-of-way of the Grand Trunk Railroad 11
and East Monroe street and also that part of the East and Vilest alley e{tending, from the
West line of South Columbia Street to the East line of the North and South .alley extend-
ing between the right-of-way of the Grand Trunk Railroad and East Monroe Street. This j
was sent to the Mayor for approval. II
A petition to vacate the alley 'South of Frederickson from Johnson Street to the I
first alley West of Johnson 'Street was referred to the City Plan Commission for investi-
gation and report. j
The official grade was approved by the Board on Wellington Street from Ford Street II
to Sample 'Street; on Illinois Street from Ford Street to Sample Street; on Bella Vista ii •
from Northwest of Illinoiw"Street to Southeast of Wellington Street; on Dunham -Street

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: The Traffic Engineer informed the`Board that he was in need of
traffic signals and equipment and a one ton pick up(.truck and the Clerk of the Board
was directed to advertise for same with bids to be returnable on March 15, 1948.
ENGINEERING'DEPARTMENT: A petition to vacate two alleys, South of Western Avenue from
the, East line.of Carroll Street to the %Test line of the North and South alley and from
the ?Hest line.of Columbia Street to the East line of the North and South alley, was
referred to the City Plan Commission for investigation and report.
This -being the - date set for---ahearing on -the contract for The Studebaker Corporation(
to run a spur railroad across Chippewa Avenue parallel with the existing tracks said
hearing was held. No remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed withIl
the Clerk of the Board, and the°Board, therefore= being fully advised in the premises
approved the contract with Studebaker Corperation and directed that it be send to the
Common Council.
A petition was received asking for the privilege of removing the curbing abutting
on North Hill Street at 401-409 North Hill Street. This was -referred to the City Enginee
for investigation and report. °
The Board approved sewer extensions on Dubaill Dayton and Randolph Streets submitted
by The Whitcomb and Keller Company,
EPART14ENT: Mr. M. 0. Brannan, Street Commissioner, was present and matters per -
to his department were discussed.

All bids received for opening on February 24, 1948, were returned unopened to the

bidders inasmuch as there was an error in the first advertisement and the date was
(changed to March 1, 1948.
The Street Commissioner informed°the Board that he was in need of an air compressor
;land the Clerk of the Board was directed to get bids from three reputable dealers by
;Ile tter.
