TRAFFIC DEP ARTT ITT: Mr. Ernest i;`iiller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per-
taining to his department were discussed.
Mr. Miller was granted permission to attend a meeting of the Governor's Safety
Council in Indianapolis on September 30 and also to attend the conference of the
National Safety Council in Chicago October 6th to 10th inclusive.

Contractor's Bonds in the aiount of 1,000.00 each were approved and ordered
filed for Harry H. Verl>ler and fdilliam J. Kline.
The Board approved plans for remodeling; a store front at 801-803 South riich.igan
for Carl Verhostra, Contractor, which plans included a 23 inch canopy extending over
the city streets.
STREET DEPART1',L`E1<T: Y1r. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and matters
pertaining to his department were discussed.

There being no further -business to come before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned at 10:00 A.Td.

A special meeting of the Board of Public Jorks was held on Thursday,Octo'per 2,
194'7 at 2:30 P.ir. I1r. I°ontgonery was absent.
The meeting was called for the pui-�Dose of discussing matters pertaining to
the Street and 'Traffic Departments.
After reviewing the bids for the sale of the street car rails removed from the
City Streets it was the decision of the Board to accept the bid of the Hurwich Iron
Company for the rails, their bid being; the highest submitted.
There being no further business to come before the Bo`.rd, the meeting was ad-
journed at 3: 30 P.11.

1947 at 8:30 A.1 . Mir. Andrysiak was absent. All city of-fices being closed to com-
memorate Columbus which fell on Sunday, the meeting was recessed until 8:30 A.I. on
Tuesday October 14, 1947.

were read and approved. Salary claims in the amount of #14,614,45 were approved and
