All members were present, Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. A petition was received asking for an investigation of the blocking by various Railroads of Ford Street, Western Avenue and Olive Streets during the morning when workers are trying to get to work, The . Board referred the petition to the Traffi Engineer and the City Engineer for investigation. ENGINi"ERING DEPARTMENT: Contractor's bonds in the amount of $1,000.00 each were approved and ordered filed for H. G. Christman Company, John C, Benjamin and Raymond J. North. DOG POUND: This being the date set for received bids for one pick-up truck for the dog pound, the following bid was opened and publicly read: - Ben Iyledow, Inc, Non -collusion affidavit and certified check in the amount of �?'100.00 accompanied bid. 1 1947 Dodge i/2 -ton pick ,up truck �994.00 The above bid being the only one received, the Board accepted said bid, STREET DEPARTItIENT: Mr. Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. CEITETERY DEPART11'ENT:: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters per- taining to his department were discussed. This being the date set for receiving bids for a pre -fabricated building for the City Cemetery for storage purposes, and no bid having been received for same, the Clerk of the Board was directed to buy a prefabricated building on the open market, There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourn ed at 10:00 A.I.. The City Engineer, Mr. Ray Andrysiak,,iliformed the Board that he was in need of a new car for his department, and.the Clerk of the Board was directed to adver- tise for one with bidsto be returnable on August 4, 1947, Ij The Board approved the plat of Coquillard Woods, Section D, Subdivision to the City of South Bend, the streets and alleys wherein having been already ded- icated to the public use and.aecepted,previously for the city by and through its - Qard of Public V orks and Safety. �I A letter was;reeeived from the Studebaker Corporation asking permission to • remove from the N6rtheeast corner of Tutt Street, north side of Street adjoin- 1 ing their building 47A, two small safety island which are now between their drivewaysinto their building. The islands are situared 19' and 39' feet respect- ively from the northeast corner of LaFayette and Tutt Streets, The Board drafted letter to the Studebaker Corparation.indicating that the islands coule be re- ja , moved by them provided that they will station a guard at the driveway to protect �I pedestrian traffic when backing up their trailer trucks. �I STREET DEPARTI1ENT: Tflr. The Board approved the closing of McPherson Street between Thomas and Napier Streetx July 25, 26 and 27, 1947 for a Festival given by St. Stephen's Church.
