All members vrere present. Minutes o,;: the last meeting were read and approved. There were no claims of suppliers to be approved. TRAFIC DEPARTMENT: Mr. Ernest I;iiller, Traf'ic. Engineer,^ras present and matters per aining o his department were discussed. Mr. Miller was granted permission to attend a meeting; of the Midwest Safety Conference in Chicago, on TIay 6 and 7th. Mr. Steve Ivancovics was granter per- mission to attend the meeting on May 7th. The Board approved the plat of the J. Kuharic Addition to the City of South Bend. TA1HT-'CAPS : A betition was received from the Te terans cab Company asking for one more cab stand providing for at least -two and possibly three cabs. A letter was received i rom the O t Brien Varnish Company asking permission to close North O'Brien Street f ror� the Corner of ':Iashington Street for a distance of 100 yards while an addition to their building is being constructed. The Board discussed the matter znrith Tyr. John McCarthy, who was present, and decided, to close the street except for enough room for one lirie of traffic. lair. 1i'Lller was directed to make an i nvesti - gation and contact the residents of the street affected to find out if this was satis- factory. • • • • U 305 • • 0 • TAXI -CABS: A letter was received from the T,Tercury Cab Company requesting an add- Monal cTT stand. The Board denied their request. Iiir. i,Tiller having :glade a report on taxi -cab conditions, the Hoard directed that a letter be sent to the Veterans Cab Company, informing them that inasmuch as cab stands are not allocated in relation to the number of taxi -cabs each company oiTrns or has in service, but in relation tb.:the needs of the public to be servod. -the Board denied their request for additional cab stands because at the present time the dovJr_- toti%n area is adequately served as to the location of cab stands. Gaby. A,petition was received asking that Bulla Street from Brookfield street to Por- tage Avenue be paved. This was ref that to the City Engineer.
