TRAFFIC DEPARTTNT: Letters were received from Mr. and Mrs. jqilliam Hege and Mr. Harry E. Southard re a ive to traffic controls at Bronson and Lincoln ?'Jay East and Miami. and Lincoln may East respectively. The Board directed that letters be sent to them indica- ting that Lincoln way East is Lander the Jurisdiction of the Indiana State Highway Comm- ission and that the Traffic Engineer would forward their letters to the said State allighway Commission. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: An Excavation bond -in the amount of $11,000,00 was approved and ordered i e or. John J. DeGrove. An application to drive a well on city property to service the air-conditioning system for, Bentonts new store was denied as in previous cases of this nature. No private installations are allowed on public property. STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. Casimer,Balka, Street C6muissioner, ,was present and matters per aining o zs7epartment were discussed. A. performance bond filed by the Standard Oil Company to cover their bid for road oil, was approved and ordered filed by the Board, CEMETERY DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertain- ing to his epar.ment were discussed. The Board accepted the bid of the Schermar-Schaus-Freeman Company for one one-half ton Studebaker Pickup truck for the Traffic Department. -ENGINEERING DEPARVIENT: A Contractor's Bond was approved and ordered filed for Es on Baii. An Excavation bond was approved and ordered filed for ,,,i;alter J. Braunsdorf and son. Contract 1-Tumber 5 was submitted by Consoer, Townsend and Associates. These plans were to cover the interceptor sewer from the intersection of 0ak�vo.�d: �oi�3 e yard a3zd-Narth Shore _'Drive to the Plant Site, Paul T4. Butler and Leo Rieder repreoenting property owners and businessmen in the vicinity of East Washington Street came before the Board to. remonstrate agains the building.of a ready mixed concrete plant on East washington Street and Niles Avenue. They also remonstrated against the granting of a permit to construct an `overhead conveyor over Nast 77ashington Street from one part of the plant to another. (I Vacation Resolution No. 2554 This being the date set, hearing was had on the assessment roll showing the r I award of damages and the -assessment of benefits in the matter of Vacation the alley South of Ewing Avenue from T:Tichigan Street Blest to the first alley West of 11,Iichigan Street- under Vacation Resolution No. 2554. J Ian the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of notices and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll.
