A Special Meeting of the Board of Public ':forks was held on Friday, March 29, 194b
at 9:30 a, m. All members were present.
The meeting was called for the purpose of further discussing the request from the
Northern Indiana Transit Company for permission to tame off the additional bus on
the North Side-1-Jishawaka Bus route which now runs trough. the Sunnymede area. After a
full discussion of the facts, during i-,ihich time the Board discussed the independent
survey made by the city to check on the figures presented by the Bus Company which
were in dispute and which the City found were substantially correct, the Board announc-
ed that they would grant the petition of the Bus Company to withdraw the bus service
on arayne Street and Twyckenham Drive in the Sunnymede Addition effective at midnight
on Idarch 31, 1946.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourn-
ed at 10;i00 A.11.

(Gentlemen:
On several occasions during the past few years I have discussed with -the
ITvlayor, your Board and various civic leaders the problems relative to parking in the
I central business district of South Bend and all are agreed that Tare do have a very
definite problem.
:Tcnile I do not have the final answers to all of the problems at this time,
I have analized what information is at hand and present herewith the enclosed pre-
liminary report.
It is my thou"ht in presenting, this report, that through your Board, action
may be stimulated to a point inhere definite steps mil be taken to eventu ally solve
• the problem.
