A communication was received from the Common Council in the form of a certified copy of a resolution passed by the Council in ;which they instruct the Board of Works and Safety to proceed at once and without delay with the erection of a traffic control ;!systems of the automatic type similar to the ones being used at other intersections over 11the city, at Mishawaka and Twyckenharn Drive and to have the overhead signals removed ;l from the intersections of LlishC_ raka Avenue and 3Oth Street; Lincoln Vday Vest and Olive • Street; and `�,Iestern Avenue and Olive Street, and control lights be installed to conform ,,with the lights now being used in the rest of the city. This resolution was ordered filed. f( I BLS ROUTES: Mr. 'v'Jatterson and Mr. Hahn of the -Northern Indiana Transit Company and I� I."Ir. William Bertsch, Mr. George Feldman, Mr. Barry Taylor and Mr. Maurice Bailey were present for a further discussion of a bus route through the Sunnymede area. A full discussion was had of the various streets in question. �Ir. Feldman pointing out that Sunnymede Avenue is thirty feet in width along its entire length, and 'uayne Street is �33 feet in widthat its narro:irest point. The feasibility of making one way streets out Hof wayne where it is intersected by a parkway was also discussed. Mr. Levy indicated that East Jefferson east of Eddy Street could not be used as a bus route without direct • I action by the Council. 1�1r. Miller, the traffic Engineer, pointed out that Sunnymede jAvenue is widely used for parking cars during football games and other affairs at the ;school field and routing buses on it would create a definite traffic hazard. The Board took the matter under advisement and will make their decision before the next meeting. �I A letter was received from the 14orthern Indiana Transit Company indicating that the had made a careful check of conditions outlined in a petition for better service on the Fellows Street bus route. The letter states in part,' ...selecting Thursday, December .13 and Friday, December 14, for the passenger clieck, During this time we found that on two trips in the afternoon of the 14th, eight passengers were left standing at curb !by one bus and seven passengers were left by another bus. Thursday and Friday are our 11 heaviest days of the weelk and for that reason vre selected these two days.
