All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $4,537.17 were approved and ordered paid: T. J. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2539 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC W RKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: That it is desirable .to vacate the following: The first alley North of Randolph Street from Marine Street to the East line of the alley West of Marine Street. The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such vacation; Lots 12 to 25 inclusive, Fisherts South Side Survey. Notice of this.r esolution shall be published on the 5th day of October, 1945 and on the 12th day of OctobeR, 1945 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the 10feekly Mirror. This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 2;�nd day of October, 1945 will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by these proceedings. Improvement Under tTlo-rt-Resolution No. 2541: Local sewer on Arnold Streer between Donald Street j and Ewing Avenue and Donald Street Sewer from Arnold Street to Oliver -.Street. Improvement Under a:(ni= Resolution No. 2542: Local sewer on Douglas Street between Donald Street: and Ewing Avenue and Donald Street Dewer from Kemble Avenue to Douglas Street, Improvement Under 4o-a-tion- Resolution No. 2543: Loca:i se,,rer on Oliver Street between Donald Street j and Ewing Avenue and Donald Street Sewer from Oliver Street to Doug -Las Screat. j BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT' the Board of Public Works fix the 29th day of October, 1945 at the hour of 11:00 A.M. at the office of the Board of Public 'Nor-ks of this City, as the time and place for the public consideration of said proposed improvements at which said Board of Public Works will hear all persons interested, or whose property is liable to be assessed for said improvement, and will decide whether the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said improvement will equal the estimated cost thereof BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that notice of the time and place of such public consider- ation will be published and mailed in the manner provided by law. Notice of this resol- ution shall be published on the 5th day of October and on the 12th day of October, 1945 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the ;Weekly Mirror. Cummings BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS The Board now adopts and places on file general details, drawings and general specifica- tions for the work as described in the above primary resolutions Nos. 2540-2541-2542 and 2546. ,Also in connection with the adoption by the Board of the above resolutions, the City Engineer now files with the said Board an estimation of the maximum cost of the most expensiae :`sewer-- designated by the Board. 0 Ll 0 • • 221 • • • STREET DEPARTMENT: Mr. 'Casimer Balka, Street Commissioner, was>present at the meeting and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. CEMET Y DEPARTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, presented his report for the month of September, 1945. There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned at 11:15 A.M. 1_�7 II AT rT SPECIAL MEETING A special meeting of the Board of Public Works and safety was held at 4:00 O'clock P.M. on October 2, 1945, in the offices of the Board at South Bend, Indiana. All the members were present, and the senior partner of Consoer, Townsend & Associates, Mr. j� Arthur W. Consoer, waspresent. Mr. 'Consoer was asxeu if he were authorized to negotiate a contract for the preparation of a preliminary report, plans and specifications and the supervision of the construction of a sewage disposal system for the City of South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Consoer answered in the affirmative. The Board and Mr. Consoer then con- sidered the terms of the proposed contract, and the meeting continued until 5:15 o'clock P.M., at which time it was adjourned until 6:30 o'clock P.M. At 6 *030 P.M. the meeting was resumed, and Mr. Consoer indicated his willingness to to. execute the contract as prepared and presented to him by the Board of Public 'works and Safety. It was pointed out that some slight changes of wording had been made; in the contract, and that the contract had been re -typed during the period of the adjournm all of which changes were mutually agreed upon. Thereafter, upon motion duly made and seconded, the following resolution was unan- imously auopted: RESG,LVED: that a contract for engineering -services between the City of South Bend, Indiana, and Consoer, Townsend & Associates be, and the same is hereby, approved by the Board of Public ';forks and Safety, and upon execution thereof by Consoer, Townsend and Associates and by the Board of Public Works, acting for and on behalf of said City, a copy of said contract shall be attached to and made a part of this minutes of this meeting. Therafter, the contract wa s signed by ivir. Arthur 111. Consoer, a partner representin Consoer, Townsend & Associates, a co-partner•ship, and by each of the members of the Boar of Public.Norks and Safety. There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned at 7:15 o'clock P.M.
