The following letter was received by the Board: July 23, 1945 Board of Public Works and Safety, City of South Bend City Hall, South Bend, 5, Indiana Gentlemen: I have your cormnunication calling attention to a motion made at the July 9th 1945 meeting of the City Council, by Councilman Brannan and seconded by Councilman Bishop, that the Board of Public -works and Safety instruct the Traffic :engineer to take steps to install a. traffic light at the corner of Mishawaka Avenue and Twyckenham Drive and if some definite action is not taken before the next meeting, a- resolution will b-e prepared and presented to the Council. I wish to report at this time that detailed studies are being made to determine the type of control necessary to preperly safeguard the intersection and to have factual data to present to the UVar Production Board when asking for priorities on controlled material. In order to investigate the problem at this intersection from all angles and to -further my argument for controlled materials, studies should be conducted when school is in session. Some delay therefore will be encountered in determining the type of controll necessary. GC: Common Council Very truly yours, (_) Ernest H.
