A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, June 25, 1945
at 9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved. Salary claims in the amount of $10,207.53 were approved and ordered paid.

TRAFFIC DEPART�rLINT: Mr.Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per-
taining to his departr;gent were discussed.
ENGINEERING DE'PARVIIENT: Contractor's bonds in the amount of g1000.00 wech were approved
for Edward Burton, George Erlandson and W. O. Graham. These were ordered filed.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, the following resolution was adopted:
RESGLUED: That the Federal Public Housing Authority and the Housing Authority of
South Bend, Indiana, be permitted to connect a sewer drain for the comrlunity building
adjacent to the Hering House on Oestern Avenue to the sewer on that Street.
DEDICATION
`913EREAS, a plat with dedication of streets and alleys, indicated thereon, is now
presented to the ,3oard, to be known.as Jefferson Acres subdivision to the City of South
Bend, Indiana;
This plat and dedication is filed in the records of the Board of Public Safety in
Row #21, Drawer #4 and recorded in Boo9V# Page # , in the Recorder's
Office of St. Joseph County;
Now THEREFORE, be -it resolved by the Board of Public 'dorks and Safety of South
Bend, Indiana, that all public streets, alleys and public places dedicated to the
public use in said Plat, are hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on
behalf of the City of South Bend, Indiana. The above plat was approved by the City
Plan Commission and submitted to the Board for their acceptance.
STREET DEPARI.TMENT: Mr. Anthony Zmudzinski, street Corzmissioner, was present and matters
pertaining to his department were discussed.
CEMETERY DEPAi 1LT LENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matter: pertaining
to his department were discussed.

I ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT1: A Contractor's bond in the amount of $1,000.00 vra.s approved
�ifor H. G. Christman Construction Company and was ordered filed.
Upon motion being duly made and seconded the following resolution was unanimously
adopted: RESOLVED: The `,Walnut Road housing Project having requested the hoard of
Public -forks and Safety to assume Jurisdiction over twenty-sixth, Twenty-seventh and
• Twenty-ninth Streets in the above. `project, and the Board having made certain recommenda-
tions as to the repair of the pavement on these streets, prior to their acceptance, and
these recommendations haveing been complied with; the Board of Public 'Works and Safety
upon motion made, seconded and carried; riereby.assumes, jurisdiction and maintenance
of these streets, and authorizes the Engineeein€; Department to prepare a dedication
1plan and enter the dedication in the records of St. Joseph County.

The Board approved the Vacation Resolution of the second alley hest of Twyekenham
Drive from Monroe Street to South Street and also the vacation of the alley South of
Pleasant Street from Twenty-fifth Street to the east line of the alley yYest of Twenty-
fifth Street. The advertising of same was held up, however, until the required amount
of money has been deposited with the Clerk of the Board .for advertising the hearings.
The, Board approved an assip,,mrient of contract for the installation of sewers on
Tasher and Jennings Avenues and St. Joseph Street from i1hitcomb & Feller, Incorporated
to Rocco Simeri. Also to extend the time of completion to.Deceriber 1, 1945.
STREET DEPARIIIENT: Ivr. Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and matters
pertaining to his department were discussed.

j The Engineering Department reported on their investigation and review of plans of
• lRapids.,
the precast concrete manhole manufactured by the LaI,:2ar Pipe and `.rile Company of Grand
11ichigan. The Niles Excavating Company requested permission to use thie type
!of construction on the Tasher Avenue and Jennings Avenue sewers. Permission is hereby
granted to use this type of construction on the above mentioned streets and the Engineer-
ging Department is instructed to notify the Contractor accordingly. This permission is no
■ jto include any other sewer construction.
