May 21, 1945
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, May 21, 1945 at
9:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of,the last meeting were read.and approved
claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $2,865.94 were approved and ordered
paid:

TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: Ttitir. Ernest i4iller, Traffic Engineer, was present and matters per-
taining to his department were discussed.
Mr. Miller was granted permission by the Board, to go to LaFayette, Indiana on
May 24, 1945 in connection with the installation of the new traffic signal system.
Mr. Miller discussed with the Board the advisability of using the upstairs rooms
of the number two Fire Station for the Traffic Survey, but after discussion it was
agreed that the rooms were not suitable.
ENGINEERING DEPARTMIENT: Contractor's bonds in the amount of $1,000.00 each were approve(
for Walter W . Smith and Harry N. Barnes. These were ordered filed.
CEMETERY
3X= DEPAiTMENT: Mr. Stanley Leszczynski, Sexton, was present and matters pertaining
to his department were discussed.
STREET DEPARTMENT: Tar. Anthony Zmudzinski, Street Commissioner, was present and matters
pertaining to his department were discussed.
It was the decision of the Board to accept the bid of Kor to Brothers, of Fort Wayne;
Indiana for One Austin-4estern Patrol Sweeper and One Austin-lUestern Grader, their bid
being, in the opinion of the Board, the lowest and best.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:00 A.M. /I

ENGINEERING DEPAFtIUENT: A petition was received asking for the vacation of. the first
alley 'ouch of Pleasant Street from 25th Street to the East line of the Alley 4est of
25th Street. This was referred to the :City Plan Commission for investigation and
approval.
