A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on Monday, July 17,, 1944 at!
9.600 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved
claims of the following suppliers in the amount of $178.62 were approved and ordered paid

of the vacationll.

No. 2528.
In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in it
the City Hall at 10:00 A.M. on the 14th day of august, 1944 for the purpose of hearing
and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation,�j
and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of ;I
damages awarded and benefits assessed be addressed to the property owners by publishing 1
same on the 21st day of July and the 28th day of July, 1944 in the South Bend Daily Ij
Tribune and the weekly Mirror. I

Mr. Williams presented a letter to the Board from Mr. A. P. Button, designing �(
Engineer of the New York Central System, asking that the City extend to them Preference
Rating AA-3, Allotment Symbol F-6, to obtain flashing light signals for the Arnold Street
Grossing. At the direction of the Board, fir. Williams, sent the following letter to i; p

Dear Sir; j
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the Uity of South Bend, Indiana has bee,
granted a preference rating by the War Production Board for the installation of flashing II
light signals in combination with short arm gates at the Arnold Street Crossing of your I•
Railroad. This rating is AA-3, Allotment Symbol F-6.
You are hereby authorized to use this rating in your purchase of materials out-
lined in the application for this project. Enclosed is either the negative'o"r another
photostatic copy of the preference rating. This or the copy previously sent to you, can
be used in making additional copies.
