The Board received carbon copies of two letters written to -the Reith-Riley Construction Company o' Goshen, Indiana, one directing them to proceed immediately with the construe-!! tion of the Chippewa Avenue access„ road signed by, Mr. "Jilliams, and one stating that due, to the,.inability to obtain tar for prime on the Chippewa Avenue project, Ind. 12-137, the Reith-Kiley Company is authorized to use cut back asphalt, applied in two applica- j tions,, using; extreme care to, see that the soil cement is thoroughly cleaned before the first application. The change to cut back asphalt shall not incur any additional ex- pense to the City or to the, Federal rorl�s �gancy., This letter was signed by 'tlm. S. I,Ioore,. Engineer. i This being the date set, hearing was held on' the assessment roll showing, the award of damages and the assess_ent of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the alley South of Huron Street from Lake Street to the Alley '.nest of Lake Street and including a 5 foot out off on the Northwest corner of Lot. �63 and from the' "lest line of the„alley West of Lake Street to Falcon Street and including a 5 foot cut off on the Northeast corner of Lot #61 under vacation,resolution No. 2527. In the above assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remonstrances werd filed, the Clerk of the board submitted proofs of publication of notices and name were found sufficient, and the Board, being fully advised in the premises, therefore, finds that the several lots and parcels of land have been benefitted and damaved in the amounts shorn on said roll: The Board, therefore,, decides to take action on said assess;; ment roll, and declares sake in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the preceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit assessments from the various property owners so benefitted, and all proceedings had with reference to said alley vacation are hereby sustained. ConLmissioner, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. Mr. Zmudzinski informed the Board that the railroad crossings of the Pennsylvania Railroad were in bad condition, and the Clerk of the Board was directed to smite to the Penns-�rlvania and request them to repair their crossings. Mr. Zmudzinski also informed the Board that some contractors have been making excavations in the parkway of streets and leaving them open at night without botabing and barricading them, in which instances, the Street Department is called to barridade the opening. The Board instructed DIr. Zmudzinski to inform the Clerk the next time- l such an assurance takes place and the Clerk will send the Contractor a letter on it. i! • • • 0 • TRAPPIC DEPARTMENT., 111r.
